This latest story is just stupidity. How do you lose a dog? According to the article, the dog was hit by a car after escaping, but not confirmed if he's dead or alive. I seriously hope he's alright. I feel so bad for the dog and his owners. And the inappropriate comments by the airline's spokesman just shows how unprofessional some of these idiots in high positions are. SHAME on you Air Canada. SHAME on you! Nature Boy

October 12, 201312 yr I heard such great things about Air Canada. ON the two flights I've taken with them [LAX-YVR Embraer E-190] and [YVR-PDX Dash 8-Q300] the flights were the best I've had aside from BA. Loved the service, the aircraft, the AVOD in every seat and more! It is for sure unacceptable that an email like that was sent in this investigation however. Regards, Jeremy Chesney
October 12, 201312 yr This story even made headline news in New Zealand. It was the second news story of the day yesterday next to the municipal elections. Goes to show how one fool can ruin the reputation of an entire airline. Peter Fitzpatrick should be sacked. The person shipping that dog even went so far as to tie the cage shut with zip ties and told Air Canada to never let it out. It is a grey hound and it will run (as it did). http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/9276245/Air-Canada-in-doghouse-over-email Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
October 12, 201312 yr Air Canada is generally good but they do have their moments, certainly an airline most Canadian love to hate. Communication is definitely not their strong suit. Mark CYYZ
October 12, 201312 yr Haha! Air Canada is like the best airline ever! They have good service and all of my flights on AC were ahead of schedule! - - Tommy - -
October 12, 201312 yr Comment was wrong. Bad luck with the dog and sad, but Air Canada is one of my top airlines I like, well used to like flying with. Not too much Air Canada out here. Sent from my Apple communications device. William Sequeira
October 15, 201312 yr I feel bad for the dog but the guy is right. The American media ignores the fact that if we default, the worlds economy could go into another depression. Instead of telling us important information they tell us about some celebrity going to rehab or Mylie Cyrus twerking . The media in this county is almost as usless as Congress. ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. October 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member Very insensitive comments, in my opinion, but of course just as concerning that this may represent a common viewpoint within the company. My personal experience with Air Canada has varied wildly, depending on whether the flight is international (has always been superb) or domestic (often lousy, gruff & grumpy staff). Hence on domestic flights I vastly prefer to fly with Westjet. That said, even my worst experience with AC is still far better than stories you hear about some of the US or European airlines, so really, I guess I can't complain too loudly! October 15, 201312 yr I work for a third party who handles cargo services for a wide variety of airlines. We are NEVER, EVER to allow an animal out of its cage. You never know how a scared (and possibly aggressive) animal will react to a stranger.

It was a local news station so their job is to cover local news, things like lost dogs. Peter Fitzpatrick's comments is what turned a what would be local news story into an international news story. He does work in media relations so not the sharpest knife in the drawer so to speak. I would be surprised if he can keep his job. October 16, 201312 yr When I worked in Boston as an A&P mech ,I had to get a customs seal in order to transit a cargo terminal,to get to my van. On numerous occasions I observed the cargo girls playing with the dogs out of their cages. Not saying this is what happened here.
