November 4, 201312 yr Unfortunately all the negativity and EULA hair splitting out there seems to have gotten the boys over at LM a little fed up. Which is a shame because it was pretty nice having a dev team who was friendly, approachable, and informative for a change. But as usual a few bad apples (you know who you are) go and spoil the fun for all. That said, I don't mind waiting quietly for what is going to be a big step forward! Paul Cordogan
November 4, 201312 yr I can understand the silence on the forums, but Wesley promised regular developer blog updates. The inactivity there is a bit troubling. It suggests that they aren't particularly close to release, as I would expect several more teaser blogs before the release. I'm sure they are hard at work with the beta results, and we will hear more soon. That was before he got ###### and made his post on the forum about not posting anymore and getting back to work. But at least some people got to ask them the stupid EULA question for the umpteenth time
November 7, 201312 yr I appreciate their hard work and appreciate if they go back to work after the first round of beta testing. Much better if they iron out as much issues as possible before release. Such a complex software with such a lot of add-ons and a lot of different users will hardly ever be perfect anyway. They will certainly release as soon as they are ready. No reason to hold it back intentionally unless they want to cool down things a little before expectations go through the roof. I second the opinion that it is better for them to work on the product than to comment on any stupid question and any rubbish that is posted in the forums. Another update on the block, however, could do no harm… Finally: time is working for the users as prices for GPUs drop continuously (20% for a GTX780 in the last month!). November 12, 201312 yr I thought these two posts by Wes were pretty substantial ... at least as far as in 3rd party potential improvements of flight models. Posted yesterday under "Improved Helicopter flight dynamics in v2.0?" thread: Quote from WBard on November 11, 2013, 10:14: We've done a lot for v2.0. The internal flight dynamics are limited, so we've opened up new ways for developers to use custom or tailored flight models. The core helicopter flight models won't be changing, but it is now easier for developers to build their own dynamics and physics and flight models. So, it's really up to the addon developers now. Hope that helps answer your question! Quote from WBard on November 11, 2013, 20:30: We can't really mess with the internal models too much without worrying about breaking backcompat, so instead of adding a few things, we opened up a new interface, and are having a lot of success with it internally, so hopefully a few addon developers can leverage it to make some really amazing addon content. ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
November 12, 201312 yr I thought these two posts by Wes were pretty substantial ... Substantial indeed! What WBard is saying is that they are maintaining backwards compatibility while opening the door for addon devs to individually improve flight dynamics as they see fit. I can distinctly remember quite a bit of whining about lack of flight dynamics improvement a few weeks back. It seems as if LM is not only allowing simmers to be part of the experience but in case the writing on the wall isn't clear enough for some, it damn well looks like they are catering to our direct needs and wants. For some it isn't happening fast enough but it's just nice to know someone, somewhere is making a product that is going to improve our hobby. Paul Cordogan
