PMDG 747 on Win7?

Featured Replies

I will be going to the aviation shop in the next few weeks and I'm just completing my list of things to purchase.  One of them will be the PMDG 747 for FS9 and FSX.  I was browsing their website and noticed that for the 747, it says Win XP Only (For FS9, and XP and Vista for FSX).

Can anybody confirm if both versions work under Win7?

Thanks

Excellent.  Thank you, Kevin.

So I'm all good for the FS9 version.  Just waiting on confirmation for the FSX version (not sure if Brent meant no issues for FS9 or FSX).

I'll be getting V2 as well.  With the older version, I'll be able to run it with higher settings and ai.  I'm assuming V2 will have more fps impact like NGX?  I can run the NGX just fine but at a lower setting than say, the MD-11.

fine with FSX and Win7.

Super!.  Thank you.

Hi, Maurice,

Their product page says the FSX version works with Windows 7.

Thanks Mike.  I wasn't sure because I'm getting the boxed version from the store and it was listed as XP and Vista on the store's website.

Thanks again for all the help, guys.  I can't wait to fly them on FS9 and FSX.

You will be waiting at least 6 months-1 year. The 747X is a great addon, works fine for me since the day I purchased for win7 64bit. My only complaint is you can't control the mcp dials like altitude and speed settings with the mouse wheel, you need to use left and right click. And the Queen is showing her age, being developed many years ago. But still beautiful! I'd also recommend the PMDG MD-11, learning to fly this airplane, it is more advanced and doesn't have the negatives I listed above, plus better virtual cockpit textures and night lighting!

That's great to hear.  Bummer about not being able to use the mouse wheel, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I also own both versions of the MD-11.  I love it.  I find myself flying the MD-11 more than the NGX.

The 744 runs fantastically on Win7. A bit FPS consuming though, but not much more than the NGX.

Thanks,

Kevin L

How is the FPS on the 744 compared to the MD-11?

Nature Boy

On my machine there's about a 4-5 fps difference, the 747 having lower FPS.

Thanks,

Kevin L

That's great to hear.  I should be able to run it fine.  I get a steady 30fps with the MD-11 except for places like KJFK.  Thanks.
