Is this for night textures only?

Thank you for the great mod.  Some of the backlighting textures do not work correctly in FS9 E175.  I'm confident I followed the installation instruction correctly.  Please see the video (sorry for the poor quality. I hope it's good enough for demo purposes).

Great work on those textures!

Guess, now I have to go buy the aircraft just to enjoy the HD-ness of it.

Thank you

Try turning on your landing lights.

No seriously

That's not a solution but it does show that the textures work just fine. Let me poke at it a bit.

EDIT: Yeah the alpha channel just needs to be black. I kinda remember that now that I'm looking at it but it's been awhile since I messed with anything for FS9. Should have a new set uploaded in a few minutes.

EDIT2: Here ya go.

Brian Doney

It works! thank you.  However I'm having a hard time seeing the "HD effect"??

left = ur mod in fs9

right = original

That's because FS9 cannot display 2048 textures. For FS9 the only real benefit I guess would be that it only applies backlighting, as opposed to the half backlighting/half floodlighting of the default.

That and the many spelling corrections.

You guys do remember the title of the original thread, right ?  :Big Grin:

FS9 USERS:

"...Of course, being limited to 1024 textures certainly cuts some of the quality vs. the 2048 set, and that is something I can't help..."

I've been thinking a bit more about this, and I may be able to clear up the 1024 textures a bit more for FS9. Part of the problem might just be the result of down-scaling them from 4096.

I will mess around with a 1024 set later this week and see if it can't be improved.

Regards,

Brian Doney

How did I forget about the 1024 limitation in fs9? ^_^ Regardless, this mod has made the plane much better at night.  Thank you for what you have done and what you are still doing for us FS9ers (Although Prepar3d 2.0 is coming out on Monday so I may not call myself a FS9er indefinitely B) )

Incredible work! You don't know how long I've been looking for this. Not to get greedy but...regarding the autopilot being too bright at night - is there any way to either darken the autopilot or at least stop the lights from turning on? It's a shame such a beautiful nighttime dark cockpit is spoiled by the bright grey autopilot. Any ideas? Thanks!!!!!!!!

Not greedy at all, and I agree with you, it it the biggest issue that remains.

Unfortunately there isn't much I can do without cooperation from FT. The offending bitmaps are contained and controlled by Ejet.gau. The only way I could fix it would be to modify the gauge itself, which I would never be allowed to distribute.

Maybe if people posted enough interest over there they might be persuaded to release a P3Dv2 SP or something, and we could get a few changes in. There are some model materials changes I would really like to see also, but it's really up to FT to decide.

Regards,

Brian Doney

Thanks for the quick reply. That's too bad about FT not letting you work on the edit. If they were smart they would team up with you and create a V3 for the E-Jets. All they really need to do is fix the VC night textures, add 3d knobs to the autopilot stack, upgrade the VC day textures, and maybe adjust the way the aircraft flies (I'm a pilot and the FT E-Jet has way too much thrust). I'd gladly pay for an upgrade like that.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to push an upgrade like that. I'm a huge supporter of FSX regional jets. Right now I'm patiently waiting for the release of the new CRJ that Aerosoft is working on. It looks great!

Above all thanks for your hard work. I've been wishing someone would pay attention to the RJ's for a long time!
