January 8, 201412 yr after taking off, plane starts to roll it's left. should i use apply trim or i do something wrong? Cenk Demir Besiktas JK 1903
January 8, 201412 yr During your pre-flight prep, make sure your rudder trim is neutral or close to it; i've found that sometimes, the aircraft loads with the rudder trim set to far left. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
January 8, 201412 yr Author trims are neutral. i don't have smilar problems with other aircraft. is it this aircraft's charecteristics? Cenk Demir Besiktas JK 1903
January 8, 201412 yr which aircraft ? yep could be the rudder , how about prop wash on prop bird ? Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
January 8, 201412 yr Author q-400.. is there any plane of this developer? Cenk Demir Besiktas JK 1903
January 8, 201412 yr you using the majestic or just flight ? check the rudder trim before take off. I have that problem on the Cessna 310 Q keeps banking left slowly but not always. is the slip ball moving too ? or is centered just asking may not be relevant. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
January 9, 201412 yr The Q400 requires a constant eye on the slip indicator, as well as adjustment of the rudder trim. If you make a change in airspeed, altitude, etc, the Q400 will probably need to be trimmed again. This plane is quite the handful, and needs constant attention. Just like the real aircraft.
January 9, 201412 yr i use around +6 (right) rudder trim on takeoff, +4 during climb and cruise, 0 during descent, keeps things nice and level and easy to control. cheers -andy crosby
January 9, 201412 yr The aircraft has 2 very powerful engines driving 2 4-bladed propellers that spin in the same direction. It's not gonna go straight at low speeds and high power without the flight control surfaces doing some things. As the Q400 isn't a fly by wire aircraft, the flight control surfaces only do things when the pilot makes them do things. Like Andy above, I usually set right rudder trim for takeoff and then reduce it progressively as the speed increases or power output decreases. This is the first aircraft where I have needed rudder trim so much that I literally assigned some yoke/stick buttons to the rudder trim controls. I reccon I have used more rudder input with this one aircraft than I have ever in all my flightsimming time since 1998. The only other time I have had to think about using the rudder this much was when I was flying real aircraft (Cessna C172M) and my instructor was all over me about keeping the (turn co-ordinator slip indicator) ball in the centre. (The Q400 needs more rudder application than the C172.) Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator

This wash effects each seperate wing differently so results in slightly different lift characteristics. Then you combine that with the forces I mentioned above, and the propwash hitting one side of the rudder, and you get a combined effect that requires a bit of compensation, particularly in situations such as high-power low speed like takeoff. You can't expect an aircraft like this to lift off and fly straight and level all by itself with no control inputs. Try chucking a lilttle rudder trim in before T/O, or just correct with a lilttle aileron. Personally we have 5 deg right rudder set for takeoff in the P-3. Hope that helps a little - this is what makes prop aircraft so much more fun to fly than jets..and with Majestics incredible FDE it is actually noticeable in FXS now! :im Not Worthy: (Loving the Q400 - can ya tell) Cam F.
January 14, 201412 yr Commercial Member Rudder trim - lots of rudder trim (and rudder). As written above - it's all to do with airflow, prop dynamics/forces etc... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-factor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_engine Best regards, Robin.
November 1, 20169 yr Hello I have question I just be mistake switched me DASH8 to 737 Boeing after that I switch back I was on runway and I pull throtle to max and I get warning and without nothing me plane go up and back, crash. Whats the problem ?
November 2, 20169 yr When the Majestic Q400 is first loaded it is not ready for takeoff. You can't just jump in and fly this detailed aircraft, you need to complete the Majestic supplied tutorial so you understand how to set it up properly, otherwise you will run in to problems constantly and become very frustrated! The takeoff config alarm will sound if any of the following are NOT set: Flaps 5 10 or 15, Elevator trim in white takeoff range, parking brake disengaged, both condition levers fully forward at MAX 1020 rpm, spoiler panels retracted More discussion at http://majesticsoftware.com/forums/discussion/2872/warning-tone-and-warning-light-on-takeoff and http://majesticsoftware.com/forums/discussion/1366/is-this-bug-or-mistake-teach-me-/p1 As regards the left roll/yaw tendency on takeoff, as others have said this is caused by yaw generated from the "prop wash". Counteract it using the rudder pedals and trim; set rudder trim right 1 needle width (about 14 units) before takeoff and you'll have a lot less to fight with once your airborne. You'll need to gradually reduce the trim as you accelerate, neutralising it when you're in the cruise. You can disable prowpash effects using the mjc84.ini file if it's annoying you, add the following line:YAW_DUE_TO_PROPWASH=0 (instead of default 1.0) ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
November 29, 20178 yr Should you not use aileron trim? I’ve been using that, and trimming the rudder to get the turn coordinator centered. It’s been working for me, but I’m no pilot.
