January 6, 200521 yr I tried to reduce the PCI Latency on my GF4 Ti4200, after unchecking the 'Read Only' it allowed me to reduce the Latency from 248 to 64; I clicked on 'Apply' and was immediately confronted by a warning, see attached .jpg. Does this warning mean what it says or can it be ignored? KenSomerset, England
January 6, 200521 yr I have a GF4 TI4200 as well -- just OK that message and the next one that pops up. After that the platency will be permenently set to 64 until you wish to unset it.Barry
January 6, 200521 yr Hi Barry,That was quick, Australia is not as far from here as I thought :)Thank you very much for your reply,Ken
January 6, 200521 yr I'm trying PowerStrip and I see where to change the pci latency for the video card adapter but not for the sound card or other pci devices. Is there a setting on PowerStrip for other pci devices other than the video card adapter? Any help would be appreciated.By the way, after setting pci latency to 64 for the video card adapter I perceive no change in the way the sim functions. I have a NVIDIA GEForce4 MX 440 AGP 8X 64 Mb RAM which gives (for me, I think) surprisingly good performance considering it is far from the latest and greatest cards now available. Thanks for your help.
January 6, 200521 yr Author Hornit,Yes, I have the same card as you and mine was set as well to 255. I have set mine to 64 for now and everything else (that was at 192 for crying out loud) was set to 32. Very smooth for me now as well. I have a very high end system so even those with 3.2-3.4Ghz machines will see a difference. Eric
January 6, 200521 yr Is there a freeware utility to adjust latency? Or is there an option to do this on the GeForce tweak utility? Thanks
January 6, 200521 yr For those of you trying this tweak, keep an eye on your CTD's (if you were having that problem). I have yet to get a CTD after applying this tweak, where I would normally get one every two days or so.Harry
January 7, 200521 yr Newer version (2.0) is here: http://www.audiotrack.co.kr/spboard/board....page=1&go_cnt=0
January 7, 200521 yr I downloaded and installed the program to see what it would do with my newly installed GeForce 6600 GT. When the program started, I saw that the card's latency was already set to 32(?)... Rick
January 7, 200521 yr It may be likely that card makers are compensating for this tweak with their newer driver sets. This tweak has been out there a while but isn't often mentioned. I can't recall if I ever applied it or not and I will run the program in the link tonight to check. I believe I did change my settings at some point which perhaps explains why my P3/800 has given fair results in FS2004.-John
January 7, 200521 yr I have found an improvement with micro stutters and a slight boost in FPS. I changed everything to 32 except my ATI controller 64 and my RAID controller to 96.I did a test out of Shez's KLGA in overcast conditions with a PMDG 737-700 a sure resource hog and I noticed better performance at T/O and climb through various views.I would like to thank the poster for the advise on this powerstrip utiltiy.Andy
January 7, 200521 yr Author Andy (and others),Go to linked page above in Davids post. That little file is much easier to setup and use than the powerstrip utility. I have pretty much eliminated all my micro-stutters and this is flying into and out of Fly-Tampa's SAN and SFO using the PMDG 737 in VC with most of all my sliders maxed to the right (I do have a P4 3.2Ghz with 1GB of RAM though)!! My FR are btw 20-25 (locked at 25). This may not be the Holy Grail for FS9.1 but this cup is sitting close to it! I am amazed how smooooth FS9.1 is now. Eric

I left my PCI bridges for processor to AGP and PCI at 64 is it ok to lower that as well to 32.Andy
