January 16, 201412 yr This could have been happening for awhile and I just wasn't paying attention and have been messing up every flight without knowing it. I always load the flight plan that I am using from PFPX into ASN. I don't though load the flight in FSX. I just start at the gate of the airport I am taking off from. Do I need to also load the flight plan in FSX as well? For the weather theme I always set it as ASN dynamic theme. My question is just now I was going to do a flight from KSAN and the winds when I last looked where 10 @ 6 from ASN, in FSX though it showed the wind at 358 mag @ 6. That doesn't seem right to me shouldn't they both read the same? Based on the weather PFPX assigned me runway 9 for takeoff but in FSX RC4 was using runway 27. So that was reversed which made me think maybe there might be an issue. Thank you in advance!

January 16, 201412 yr Author ASN should be on live weather Yea it's set to WX Mode: Live real time mode. Maybe I just don't get how wind is read. Is there always a 10 degrees difference from the MAG heading of the wind and what is displayed? Like I just did a random test at KBUF and the wind was 190 @ 7. However in FSX it said 200 MAG @ 7. Is it possible that is why Radar contact was using runway 27 when the wind was at 010 because the mag weather was 358 and it overlapped or something?
January 16, 201412 yr Sorry I'am a little confused. Having just looked though the ASN manaul I cannot see a "ASN dynamic theme" Were is this? David Murden. January 16, 201412 yr asn will over ride what you set in fsx, asn is only a weather addon not a texture addon I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
January 16, 201412 yr asn is only a weather addon not a texture addon Textures, who is talking about textures? This topic is about winds. :Hypnotized: Back on topic, PFPX I don't think get its weather from the same source as ASN, I could be wrong but when PFPX gives you runways don't take them as a given/fact, more a approx of what to expect. Most times there right but not all the time. 200@7 and 190@7 is a small change. As for Radar contact, I don't have it, BTW you need to add your name into your sig, it is part of the forum rules. January 16, 201412 yr Could be the winds in asn are true and in fsx they are magnetic Wayne such Asus Hero Z690, Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080, I914900K, Kraken 360 AIO CPU Cooled, 96 GIGS Corsair DDR5, 32 Inch 4K by 3
January 16, 201412 yr ...My question is just now I was going to do a flight from KSAN and the winds when I last looked where 10 @ 6 from ASN, in FSX though it showed the wind at 358 mag @ 6. That doesn't seem right to me shouldn't they both read the same? ... There's only a marginal, 12 degree difference between 358 and 010 degrees. It's basically the same, and the wind swings back and forth like that in real life all the time vatsim s3
January 16, 201412 yr Could be the winds in asn are true and in fsx they are magnetic Exactly. The magnetic deviation at KSAN is 12.4 degrees East, so your winds were properly reported. Same for KBUF where the deviation is 10.5 degrees West. As for RC4, I have no idea, although it could be it has set Rwy 27 as the default (and only) runway for takeoff as this reflects the preponderance of usage at KSAN. Jerry "Wiley" Post KORF
January 16, 201412 yr It is the magnetic variation that is showing the difference here. Also it doesn't matter what you select in the weather menu is FSX, ASN overrides it completely, just make sure FSUIPC is version 4.928 or later. To be absolutely certain make sure all weather options inside FSUIPC are also turned off or deselected. One other point make sure cloud density slider in FSX is at the maximum setting too, if you have it any lower than max then ASN wont show overcast layers very well. Cheers, Andy.
January 16, 201412 yr Author Sorry I'am a little confused. Having just looked though the ASN manaul I cannot see a "ASN dynamic theme" In FSX under weather theme I always set it to ASN dynamic theme not in ASN. BTW you need to add your name into your sig, it is part of the forum rules Could you direct me to where that is posted? Not saying it's not a rule but I see plenty of people without there names in there sig. I know for some sub forums it is a rule and I totally understand that but I didn't think it was for the general one.
January 16, 201412 yr In FSX under weather theme I always set it to ASN dynamic theme not in ASN. Like I said it doesn't matter, ASN doesn't care what that setting says, it will still be able to control the weather properly. I am a Hifi Tech beta tester so you can be assured that this info is correct. Cheers, Andy.
January 16, 201412 yr Author PFPX I don't think get its weather from the same source as AS You can use ASN in conjunction with PFPX. So PFPX is using ASN. You load ASN and then load PFPX. In the weather section at the bottom of PFPX I have it set to ASN so I assume when I load PFPX it is loading the weather that is in ASN. Like I said it doesn't matter, ASN doesn't care what that setting says, it will still be able to control the weather properly. I am a Hifi Tech beta tester so you can be assured that this info is correct. Ok cool I just figured a theme always had to be selected.
January 17, 201412 yr The only forum you need to display your name in is any PMDG sub forum. The easiest way to do that is to add your name to your signature in user profile. But if you do that you'll see your name in all posts. So, in essence, you'll see a lot of users with their names listed in other forums. If you only visit the PMDG to post once or twice you could simply add your name to the post. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 17, 201412 yr Author The only forum you need to display your name in is any PMDG sub forum Yea that was my understanding also but after looking at the ASN sub forum they also have this rule. That is totally fine and I have zero issue with that and if I post there I would certainly follow that but I didn't think it applied to posting in this forum.
