January 19, 201412 yr Lets sort this out Gerry is correct Fsuipc is NOT necessary. BUT, If you have hardware that needs to be programmed to work with FSX then it is invaluable. IF you would like your hardware automatically configured for each aircraft you load the you will find Fsuipc invaluable. IF you want g3d.dll crashes to go away then it is of use to you. IF you want to run Lua programs from within the Sim then you may want Fsuipc It really depends on your own particular setup but many of us could not envisage running FSX without it.. But in Gerry's black and white world it seems that he has no use for it. That's fine we all have different requirements from the Sim.
January 19, 201412 yr Why do so many people always start to promote FSUIPC when someone asks a simple question about the use of FSUIPC against CTD's...? Anyway, the answer is that if you have CTD's the free unregistered version of FSUIPC may certainly help. It won't do any harm to your setup and FSX so go get it!
January 19, 201412 yr If you want real weather or a half decent ATC (not the default) then you must have FSUIPC Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
January 19, 201412 yr Author How does FSUIPC give you half decent ATC...? Does the free version address ATC? Chris Camp
January 19, 201412 yr How does FSUIPC give you half decent ATC...?Does the free version address ATC? As I understand vololibertista's post, FSUIPC is necessary for ATC addons - at least I do not know of any influences FSUIPC has on default ATC. Florian
January 19, 201412 yr Moderator Does the free version address ATC? No it does not. Neither does the registered version. I have no idea where this idea came from... Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
January 19, 201412 yr Well, FSUIPC does have a traffic "zapper". I wish I could have that in my car sometimes. Barry Friedman
January 19, 201412 yr No it does not. Neither does the registered version. I have no idea where this idea came from... Bill, I can't run PFE without FSUIPC. PFE being half decent in comparison to the default ATC so therefore for half decent aTC it is necessary. Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
January 19, 201412 yr Why do so many people always start to promote FSUIPC when someone asks a simple question about the use of FSUIPC against CTD's...? Because Pete Dowson has done ALOT for this hobby and continues to give his work away ... I consider my purchase as payment for all that he has done over the many many many years. For the same reason why I donated to AVSIM ... it's been a very useful resources and I'm thankful of that (plan to make it a regular process). Is FSUIPC required, depends on the OPs add-ons and hardware of which we know nothing about. "Preventing CTD's" is a pretty broad request and we don't know much more about it from the OP (does he really mean OOM?) ... I didn't have any CTDs in FSX (other than OOMs and some 3rd party add-on induced) with or without FSUIPC ... so if the OP is having regular CTDs, FSUIPC can autosave flights so that will at least save him frustration of having to start a flight all over again. Not a prevention, but certainly a benefit. We don't even know if the OP has a 3rd party product that requires FSUIPC and it's not installed and hence triggers CTDs because it isn't installed. But I suggest the OP read the documentation for FSUIPC (it's available on Pete's web site without having to install anything), the list of known bugs it "fixes" in FSX is pretty exhaustive. Rob
February 25, 201412 yr I am reinstalling FSX\Gold on my repaired Medion comp. I have been now trying for an hour to install my registered copy of FSIPC. It shows in the FSX [Trusted] section I accepted everything when it loaded But! It is not showing in the top menu; I don't have the Addon tab? Thanks, Berlopez Edited February 25, 201412 yr by Berlopez
February 25, 201412 yr Something is blocking the Fsuipc installer from adding Fsuipc to your Dll.xml file Where do you have FSX installed ? and what is the contents of your Dll.xml file ? It should contain (amongst other things) <Launch.Addon> <Name>FSUIPC 4</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon>
