That's been around for the last ten years or more. It hasn't progressed all that much since I first heard of it, per se... B)

Since its just an engine wouldn't it be a cheaper way for a company to develope a new flightsim.

Oops, sorry.  I thought you were referring to an earlier similar post on GTA.

I'll take a look at the link

Edit:  That looks great but its basically just scenery with little else. But it could be promising.

The next gen flightsim I want to see if something with GTA-5's scenery and real-world interactive environment and damage modelling, but with virtual cockpits and instruments added.....

I've lost interest in old-gen flightsims whith no real damage modelling, and planes that fly straight through trees and houses etc, and road traffic that are eye-candy ghosts.

Flightsim was supposed to have damage modeling but MS removed it after 9/11 fearing a media backlash(dumb) The only civil flightsim with damage modeling I know of is flight unimited 3 great sim but pretty long in the tooth.

For $15 I'm going to buy outerra as you can build the scenery is it as good as fsx no but Id like to support the dev because who knows where this could go

Why not!

..and if there could be damage modelling added, and in time Ai air and road traffic, all the better.

And since Outerra has the ability to seamlessly go from 'a blade of grass to space', it would potentially make a great space-sim, too.

Edit...

They need to work on the crash-damage modelling though...

Downloading the demo right now , freaking looks sexy.

They removed the damage modelling in 1999, before 9/11 and it was at the request of the Aircraft Manufacturers. Cessna, Boeing, Bombardier etc don't like their products seen damaged or breaking up in a flight simulator. That was the reason the damage modelling was removed and it wasn't anything to do with 9/11

This is understandable, if I was a manufacturer, I wouldn't allow my product to be used in a simulation that shows it breaking apart or damaging etc either. Simulators are good for product marketing but showing the product damaged is not good for marketing.

That's understandable. No point in scaring prospective passengers away with realistic damage modelling like this....

I see Xplane 10.25 and v2 mesh narrowing the general gap FSX with generic scenery. If seasons arrive it will further narrow feature gap. XPlane is my future P3Dv2 is nice, but I think computer running on antifreeze to cool CPU to play FSX kind makes XPlane a nice option. At least $500 graphic card not a waste in XPlane

Outerra has been going nowhere for a long time, but I've paied my dues and bought the demo back when it was released.
