I have a Gigabyte 780ti Gb which works very well with X Plane 10 with most settings maxed.

The 780ti is a little to expensive (600€). If i dont see any big difference i'll take the 780(440€).

Captain,

Even the 770 would do . How many screens are you planning on using ?

At this time just one for flying, and the second one for PlanG, or other maps. The 780 costs "just" about 60 Euros more. So i think its the better choice. I also do a little photoshop and video editing, so more power can be very useful

Ya 60 extra for a ton of performance than definitely. I use Eyefinity on a cheap HD 7750 2GB and no issues, except I cannot use HDR as the driver is broken and the card is not powerful enough for HDR in XPX. But even without HDR it's awesome. Main thing is my FX 6300 handles everything maxed out (For CPU loads only) except now water and LOD is low and No road traffic.  And CCC AA is set to 2x .

And in Seattle I am pulling 20s and above with some custom sceneries like lots of buildings and the KBFI airfield with Ruscenery , I am using the XPPL 172 but going for the F33A. But I am not using clouds in eyefinity as the clouds eat up around 10-12 fps for me. Right now I have OC'ed my FX to 4.4 to test and than I will pull it back down to around 3.0 -3.5 and check again the performance.

I noticed not much differnence between 3.5 and 4,2 Ghz. But as is said, my GPU is stressed out to the maximum. So hopefully i can enjoy HDR and the new environment things(cloud shadow, relaigh scattering...) with my new GPU.

Ok, cloud shadows will work without HDR , but yes the other stuff requires HDR , enjoy captain.

My Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB with Windforce will handle more than any other card I have ever used.  I felt I was really splurging at going just over $400 with shipping and tax, but it really is a good one.  I had to perform surgery on my full sized case to get this monster installed, but all is well.  But remember, it all works together - the CPU, the motherboard, DRAM, and GPU must all be able to "shake hands" with each other.  One weak component slows everything to it's speed.

I have the gtx 770 4GB and it works great with everything except clouds. Seems that's the weak point and it canes the fps:( I use sky max pro and if I lower the settings down to a few notches above minimum, I can then get away with it.

Ah that card is not doing anything for the clouds ? I am surprised that is a powerful brute you got there.  I am using the Clouds HD from .org maybe you could try those , but I am still surprised.

I am still trying to figure what computer/video cad to choose from.  From what I have been reading the 770 can  handle 3 monitors just fine.  But I am still leaning toward the 780.  Does the 770 give you 30 fps with three monitors?

Raleigh tweaks, osm data and simheaven photoscenery in bigger cities on my i7 4670k and GTX780 with 3GB memory im on the edge, 2900mb with max setting i believe and like 20-25 fps. thats with texture set to max resolution WITH compressed option ticked. Unticked no chance ever. With default scenery might be ok, but when you start running photoscenery, osm and addon airplane its just too much uncompressed. And in my experience max texture res + compressed is better than very high texture res uncompressed.

Clouds are very hard on fps always for me, but i think skymaxx is a bit better on fps for me. I think, i have not done any tests though but it feels like it.

But yes for my system GPU is the restricting factor, CPU load is 50%-70% when GPU is at 90%+.

The clouds are definitely the killer. I can get to 3400mb used and I have 4gb card, so that's not an issue. I wish the clouds could be more optimised so I could crank some of the sky max pro settings up! I wonder what default clouds would be like with the shadows. I might check, but If I remember correctly the cloud % slider has to be set above 30%?

Also with HDR on, I can't use above 2xfxaa as 4 kills the fps!

Well since it doubles the amount of memory that is used for the high resolution memory buffer and you already use 3400 MB for textures alone this is hardly a surprise. You run out of VRAM.

Hmmmm I might try compressing it and then see if I can run 4x .....
