Comparisons between OPUS & FS Global Real Weather?

Featured Replies

I am ready to buy a weather program for P3D v2.1 and was wondering if there are any comments or comparisons between OPUS and FS Global Real Weather, which was recently released?

Thanks,

Howard

Howard, they are both very good. Some people prefer one over the other so experiences vary.

Opus includes cameras as a bonus add on, but some people (including me) found wind shifts and cloud pop ups which can be dampened by adjusting a lot of settings.

I settled for FSGRW, no adjusting needed, it worked a lot better for me, but it is just a weather engine, no bonus cameras, etc.but I does exactly what I needed.

Better still, they both have demos which should allow you to make a decision. Good luck.

The easiest way is to download both demonstrations and make the comparison for yourself. Here are the links

OpusFSX - http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

FSGRW - http://www.fly2pilots.com/cms/Ui/Pages/Products/MainPage.aspx?id=253b8b5c-0a91-4935-8d01-b3c70aee6034

I know which one is my favourite, but try them both for yourself and then make an informed decision from there.

Have fun

IMHO, that question should depend on aircraft size:

Which weather engine works best for large commercial aircraft (i.e.. 777, Airbus,...) that potential fly through multiple weather systems in the same flight ? (How are the changes managed)

Which weather engine works best for small aircraft travelling through an evolving weather system. ?

Global update... vs station update ?

I would wait until ASN has been released before you purchase anything. When the P3D version of ASN has been released, we will have to option to choose out of all the major weather engines. (I don't expect the upcoming REX weather engine to be a top contender too but you never know…)

True ............. unless you already have a licence for FSGRW, because this is a free update. Well done PILOTS!  :yahoo:  :yahoo:  :yahoo:

Not meaning to hijack Howard's thread, but does the Opus camera system have the same functionality as EZDOK - and if so, is it easier to set the camera system up than EZDOK.  Are you able to save and share aircraft camera profiles?

Now with ASN being released, it really gets confusing......and exciting.
