PDMG vs IFly 737 for Fs2004?

Featured Replies

I know with fsx that pdmg wins hands down in every area except for price, because it has superior systems modeling, visual appearance, flight model and sounds. But what about fs9? I know that pdmgs 737 for fs9 is older so it does not look as good as the Ifly 737 and pdmg does not support fs9 anymore, but is the pdmg still superior to the ifly as far as flight model, sounds and system modeling goes? I would care more about realism than visual appearance. A list of what each of these have and do not have and pros and cons of each would be helpful.

Let's start with this: the FS9 PMDG 737 was actually developed for FS8 back there in 2003. iFly was released 7 years later, give or take. And AFAIK, iFly simulates all available engines for all the 737 product lineup (except the Poseidon), while PMDG is limited to the 600/700/800/900 (non-ER).

Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

iFLY 737 still in production, still gets updated service packs. It's amazing airliner not too much different from NGX.

Back when I actually stepped inside american planes, I always flew the ifly one, it's very realistic, system and dynamics wise. You mentioned you don't care for visuals, but heck, they're really really mood and you actually have to move in order to switch knobs, buttons in the VC.

If your computer is weak, PMDG is much lighter on frames though. Yes, it's very old plane.

iFly also supports P3D NOW.  There is also a dedicated version for cockpit builders.

I flew the PMDG version in the early years of FS9 together with FS2Crew.  The iFly with MCE is light years ahead.  Don't think twice ... the iFly is the way to go.  It is backed by an excellent support crew with literally hundreds of 'official' repaints available from Flight 1.

BTW it is questionable that the NGX is superior in the areas you mentioned.  The PMDG reputation and marketing machine is awesome but be very careful of f.. boy assertions.  They are seldom based on fact and true experience with the iFly product.

Ifly Hands down

That and MD-11 PMDG for heavies

I have to add Level D 767 for heavies too. It's my second favorite airplane in FS and while it may be graphically outdated, it's such a joy to fly!

Tushka have you seen the Zinertek HD replacement textures for the VC?

rwat ... my apologies for diverting your thread.

Indeed, those were the ones I used. The night ambience became much better and is what actually made me begin flying this bird. (Zinetertek HD textures Level D 767)

Even with floodlights on, it looks perfect. Can't post a screenshot of it though as before when I was member here, moderators always took it down...

You're still a member of AVSIM, but screenshots are restricted to the screenshot section. You would have to upload the pic there and provide a link to your screenshot post here.

What happened to AVSIM

It was another account from two years ago. I don't really remember what happened but one day it claimed I was a spammer for some reason. So I became tired of it and took a break for 2 years.

The screenshots deleted before were on airplane developement thread. I figured out since at Russian avsim (avsim.su) rules are a bit different and when you're developing freeware, you always post screenies.

Off topic, I know, I just wanted to clear up a missunderstanding

Ok I guess that settles it lol, I guess I may get the Ifly 737, but I will polish up on my IFR flying in the mean time so I don't get too overwhelmed. But how hard is is on frames in comparison to something like carenados c90b which can be a little hard on my pc and drop my frame rate at times?

You won't be disappointed in the iFly. But what are your PC specs?

Its a Toshiba satellite C855D-S5205 and its about 2 years old, It has got an AMD Vision E2 processor, 4gb of ram and the graphics card is an AMD Raedon Hd 6320 with 384mb of memory.
