March 28, 201412 yr I used OpusFSX for weather during the winter of 2013-14 and at that time is was recommended that all weather settings in FSUIPC be turned off. I believe that is still the recommendation. You might want to confirm that by visiting this forum http://www.simforums.com/Forums/forum49.html. Michael Cubine
March 29, 201412 yr Author I wish people would leave the investigators to do their jobs. In case people have forgotten, nearly 300 people lost their lives, and nearly 300 families destroyed by the disaster. Until the CVR/FDR are recovered, and assuming they contain uiseful data, people are guessing. Period. As for what you saw in the sim - it's your screw-up for leaving it flying so long with failures enabled. I've flown around the world in the 777 without incident. The AP must have been engaged for it to be flying as depicted in your map. This problem is irrelevent to what was seen. The routing was east/west, not north/south, and not along the longitudinal meridian. Best regards, Robin. I can't understand anything of what you just wrote or how it's relevant to my post, I'm not trying to guess anything at all about the investigation, if you believe so then you must have read my post completely wrong. If you actually read my posts I've flown this thing countless of hours without any problems. As any flight I do with the PMDG T7 i left the LNAV/VNAN engaged from takeoff and it has always followed the flightplan I have entered until this date, clearly there is a problem dont you think? This day I had a lot of stuff that came up which ment I had to leave it running for hours, with no failures and no corrupt flightplan it should have followed it instead of heading hours off course with the LNAV/VNAV still active like it was on course but doing s turns. I am a consumer and I bought a product which is not doing what it is supposed to do, regardless if I am at the controls or not, period. Marcus A.G.
March 29, 201412 yr Commercial Member I only mention MH370 investigation because you made mention of it! Quote: ended up all the way exactly about where the wreckage from MH370 was found outside perth. Is this a known "feature" / bug? To me, this looks like some kind of sick joke. If you really did not intend it that way then OK, but people must really be more sensitive about what they say regarding this incident. The level of conjecture and media coverage is just outrageous, and frankly I wish they'd find something else to go on about, because it is very disrespectful. Best regards, Robin.
March 29, 201412 yr Morph still hasn't signed his name even after he was requested to do so. Guess it's just about time to close this thread. (Like in "sick joke".) He can still submit a support ticket. What happened to AVSIM
March 30, 201412 yr I took off from VHHH (heading towards EDDP), climbed to cruise level, disconnected from vatsim and went away from my computer. After 8 hours I come back and i see that my aircraft is making weird S turns and the autopilot is screaming at me. What really surprises me is that it turned left in chineese airspace to a heading of 180 and headed straight down through thailand/malaysia and ended up all the way exactly about where the wreckage from MH370 was found outside perth. Is this a known "feature" / bug? I am not sure why I am replying here. It really is not my job to defend anybody. There is no gain for me in it, nor for anybody else really. The only thing that can happen is that people will start getting on my case as well. And still I feel the need to reply..... Because right is right and wrong is wrong I guess......and I see absolutely nothing wrong with his post! Unless ofcourse you WANT to interpret "Is this a known "feature" / bug?" as a question/funny remark relating to the crash of MH370! I dont think it was meant like that.....he is merely asking if the S-turns his PMDG is making, are a known problem/bug. People have to stop being overly sensitive when no harm is done! There is this FSX GURU on another forum who has made an incredible comprehensive FSX guide. he calls his guide the FSX Bible. You should see the totally unheard and misplaced comments he got on that! I bet everybody going nuts here about a harmless comment/question, is enjoying himself immensly on youtube watching all kinds of real crashes (or other sick stuff), where people die! And that is ok right? To sit there and go wow, cool, lets see that again!? Leave the guy alone! Rob Robson
March 30, 201412 yr Commercial Member Sorry Rob, I have to disagree. The relatives of those onboard still don't know for certain if their loved ones are alive or dead. It's just about showing a bit of respect, he has no idea who reads this forum. Absolutely no need to link a flightsim glitch to an ongoing tragedy. Media has mentioned the PMDG 777 numerous times, I would not be surprised if some family members came here to find out what kind of stuff the captain was playing with at home. Besides, he said his aircraft ended up where the MH370 wreckage was found.. It's just bad taste Rob Prest
March 30, 201412 yr Bad taste or not, this discussion seems to cause irritation and might be offensive to some of us. Therefor this discussion should end here. The thread should be closed, locked and deleted as it leads nowhere. Ralf Medernach
March 30, 201412 yr The PMDG support team will have to ignore his support request anyway, unless he gives his full real name or his purchase can be validated in a different way. What happened to AVSIM
March 30, 201412 yr I'd be extremely happy that my sim didn't crash if I let it run for 8 hours on it's own. James D. Edwards
March 31, 201412 yr I had a similar coincidental flight where I spotted 9M-MRO landing in Auckland after I did when I flew from Christchurch. And no it was not staged. I just happen to spot a Malaysia 777 landing after Cathay when I was parked at my gate. I saw in my traffic viewer window that it was the same plane that vanished. I later checked the traffic file and saw that this was from the winter 2012-2013 season.
March 31, 201412 yr Commercial Member I guess the only way to get the thread locked is to ask if SP1 will bring weather RADAR to the 777... Best regards, Robin.
April 1, 201412 yr Author Amazing, on the second page and still zero indication of what is causing my problems, just TONS of offtopic trash that I hope gets moderated (wake up?). Why flag this as your "official" support forum when all you get is.. nothing?I will repeat this flight without a weather engine active and see if I can recreate it. As for MH370 I did not know this forum was filled with oversensitive people, and because I can't edit the thread start post I can't remove the irrelevant connection that I did that actually has no impact on my in-game FSX problem. Deal with it. Marcus A.G.
