March 27, 201412 yr Hey guys well finally got TRACK IR and EZDOK to work and i'm ready to go but one problem is stopping me and thats the HUD! For the green stuff, speed tape etc will only fit when i'm zoomed out at 0.30 i'm trying to use the PMDG advice at 0.60 but the green stuff doesn't fit in the glass its too big i need to zoom right out at 0.3 atleast to get it to fit? Thanks zimmers!!! Vernon Howells
March 27, 201412 yr You are either way too much to the front, or you lack "wideviewaspect=true" entry in the cfg. --Peter Fabian
March 27, 201412 yr You'll have to tinker with it. What you could do is drop the hud to the downward position. Then select your pilot's view in EZDOK. Press 2 so you hear the dinging in the background which you can then start to zoom in/out and pan left/right to get all the HUD info where you want it, then hit 2 again to save. I have this set up on one of my joystick buttons so one press does it all. I saved this separately from my pilot's view so I have both options of HUD/no HUD. Chris Sunseri
March 27, 201412 yr Commercial Member i'm trying to use the PMDG advice at 0.60 but the green stuff doesn't fit in the glass The display is collimated. You need your head to be in the proper position to see it. If you're too far to the left, right, above, or below the collimator, you won't see it properly. There was a good video by PMDG a while back showing this, but I don't have the link off hand. Just mess around with where your viewpoint is and you should be sorted. Kyle Rodgers
March 27, 201412 yr Author Scandinavian i did change that wideviewaspect per the 737 ngx documentation setup? Will this be the problem? Thanks guys just when i zoom in more then 0.40 and go back to the seat using the arrow keys the green tape doesn't fit in Pin lifter that is a good idea dude because that hud is for only looking out Fabo sorry Vernon Howells
March 27, 201412 yr It's certainly possible, it's just a matter of adjusting your view position. Here's the HUD view with zoom 0.55 or 0.60
March 27, 201412 yr Author How the heck did you do that with that zoom i can barely get 0.40 and i've tried up down left right forward and back and it just doesn't fit in the glass! I need to zoom out between 0.30 and barely 0.40 Vernon Howells
March 28, 201412 yr Hmmm... could be to do with monitor resolution too? The pic above was from 1900x1200. Post a pic of what you're seeing on your set up and maybe we can see what's wrong.
March 28, 201412 yr Author Ok will do soon! What monitor are you running? Am Asus VG248QE 24-inch 3D LED Monitor - Black (1920x1080, 80000000:1, 144 Hz, 1ms, DVI Display Port, HDMI) Will i have to set fsx to 1920x1080? Vernon Howells

Am Asus VG248QE 24-inch 3D LED Monitor - Black (1920x1080, 80000000:1, 144 Hz, 1ms, DVI Display Port, HDMI) That should be plenty enough. The problem with not having wideviewaspect=true is that it forces a smaller FOV, which usually makes people to use lower zoom levels... which brings fisheye-like perspective, that has its own problems... long story short, it helps with perspective on a widescreen monitor. Yours is plenty good, should work OK. Regarding the problem of fitting... I have to stress once again, proper camera position is most important. It would be better, for us, if Boeing kept the alignment balls like Airbus has, but you can try setting up your view as described in FCTM. --Peter Fabian
March 29, 201412 yr How the heck did you do that with that zoom i can barely get 0.40 and i've tried up down left right forward and back and it just doesn't fit in the glass! I need to zoom out between 0.30 and barely 0.40 Forward forward forward, Further forward. Now zoom out so you can see the panel. The zoom isn't the same as head position. And it's the Head position that matters to get the symbology inside the HUD glass. The zoom only decides what you can see around the edges of the HUD (Nav display, PFD, Engine display, MCP, First officer's left leg, etc.) The further forward you move the head position (default: Ctrl+Shift+Enter) the closer the head is to the combiner lense, and the wider the "apparent angle" the glass covers in your forward field of view (up to the point that your head touches the glass.) Moving FORWARD in the seat gets the glass to cover more forward apparent angle (in a 2 dimensional world, this means the HUD glass looks 'bigger'). The further you zoom out, the wider the presented view on screen is (and the smaller things look). If you can't see the edges of the HUD (ie: can't see speed or altitude) you may have to move forward for the glass to cover where the combiner lense is projecting to. If you can't see your PFD, Nav display, MCP or EICAS, then you may need to zoom out. March 29, 201412 yr Author Well its all working good now just done NickN nividia inspector + fsx.cfg tweak and its working now plus fsx and 737 ngx is running so smooth would like to thank everyone for the help cheers guys. Vernon Howells
March 30, 201412 yr Anyone referring to this kind of system as a Heads Up Display needs to look in a mirror and count how many heads they have and so how many heads they have looking through the combiner glass. Unless the answer is more than one they should refer to it as a Head Up Display. A "heads up" is something else entirely. Or you could read the manual and see what Boeing calls it.
