On the forums I was reading that the Lago MD-80 and Jet City MD-80 have different flight models and the textures are different between the products. I was wondering which one is the better plane to buy?

I have Jet City. Very leery of LAGO support just from reading these forums over the years! The support at Jet City has been great, no problems at all. You can find panels at fsnordic.net for free.

It's kinda confusing: 1. Lago has a panel for their MD-82's, JetCity has no panel. 2. Lago has a VC panel that works only for the Lago models, it does not work for the JetCity models, BUT Lago is making a VC for JetCity. 3. Lago has an MD-82 model only, JetCity has the MD-81,82,83, 87,88,90, each with a unique .air file. 4. Lago a total of 13 liveries to offer between their Lago and JetCity produced offerings, not sure of any future livery production plans other than a repaint kit. JetCity not only has multiple models of the MD, they have 67 some liveries and more on the way. You buy like 6 or 7 with your initial purchase, then download a whole donkey cart load, no extra charge. 5. Unlike Lago's liveries each JetCity produced livery comes with it's own customized set of Catering trucks and luggage loading trucks.The catering trucks are all the same with each liverty, but each loading truck has the logo of the accompanying airline! very nice, very unique! 6. The JetCity models come with fore and aft air stairs, I don't think Lago's come with those, but I'm not sure. Conclusion or confusion: you HAVE to have a panel for you MD80. I suppose you could buy the relatively inexpensive JetCity liveries and merge with say a freeware panel, there are folk who are probably doing that. JetCity has said that they are going to look into various merges as time goes on, but nothing at present unless it is the "merge" with the Lago Panel, that's the only one they're supporting as yet. I bought the MDMax panel, WOW, NICE panel, but it seems really propietary and may not merge with ANYTHING and their current aircraft model is awful!! I don't recommend going that route as yet. So, I ended up buying both Lago's and JetCity. You get a 20% discount coupon off the JetCity package right at present when you buy Lago's package, so the whole thing comes to around US $61.00 ... kinda spendy, but guess what, a ton of simmers bought the various and plentiful PSS airbus packages and paid that much for base packages and extra for each livery!!! Thanks for the replys so far guys :-)I was thinking of buying the Lago plane (to use the panel and sounds) and then buying the Jet City plane for the plane itself but I don't really want to spend around $61, thats a bit expensive for me. To bad Lago will not sell the panel and sounds seperate (say around $25-$30)I really like the customized catering trucks and luggage loading trucks that come with the Jet City plane. That is a cool feature. I also love the livery selection of Jet City, I already saw 5 liveries I have been looking for (but hasn't been painted) when the newset SGA MD-80 plane came out.One more question.....which model has the more accurate looking exterior plane? Jet City or Lago? (I haven't seen any GOOD screenshots of the Lago plane)

Randy what's the secret with getting the patch, I keep just timing out on FTP1 and FTP2.

I would love to have a professionaly done MD-80. I'd pay real dollars for it. But, from what I've heard, I won't touch any of the 2 that are on the market today. One released it, so the other tried to play catch up and blew it out the door too early, it's all so weird. And, like many posters have said, I'm a little leery about buying anything from Lago. Jet City is cool, I bought some of their stuff and when I had a problem they were right there for me. I think it's a small company, but they're there for you. You are using some kind of broadband ISP I hope! I just checked out Lago's site, I got FTP2 to connect and start downloading, but FTP1 would not. I've two copies of the patch, you can have one!! HA! ... seriously, let me know if you want to try ISP to ISP, it's 25megs, it'll take a while, but what the heck. I check back in about 30 min.(it is now 6:30PM PST, west coast USA) Randy Jura, KPDX

Well I made up my mind and I think I will get the Jet City MD-80. I will use the SGA MD-80 sounds and find a good freeware panel for it.Over in Lago's forums and there is a thread there that list all the bugs the planes has and it is 3 pages long! I wonder if alot of people bought the Lago plane? I mean I havent seen any screenshots of the new plane anywhere.

There is now a patch available for the Lago MD80, which includes the JetCity FDEs. That means now you can have the best of both products merged. Check the AVSIM front page!Wolfgang

Can anyone comment on the flight dynamics of the JetCity addon? I haven't ever flown any of their products. How is the pitch attitude during cruise and approach?

The Jet City aircraft are top notch FDE's. I fly these things for a living and other than Fraser Turner's(SGA) fde for thier MD80 series, the Jet City aircraft are the best Mad Dog flight models around. I ought to know, I helped with it! ;)Hornit

I highly, highly, highly recommend Leon Seale's re-work of Paul Golding's blue MD80 panel! It's clean, looks good, nice frames and works well. It slips right into those terrific Jet City planes and is free!Lee:-jumpy
