May 2, 201412 yr Taking off in my SeaMax Ultralight Amphibian. This is a wonderous scenery package done by Cloud 9 called "Fly The Lakes!" - I actually discovered, after the flight was over, that the priority of it in the Library was incorrect. Didn't stop me from seeing some incredible scenery. Basically I just decided to take-off and flight north, getting lost in the mountains and exploring. World Extreme Landscapes; Active Sky v6; Ultimate Terrain Europe Pulling up and headed North, away from the Como airport and seaplane area. Leaving the Fly The Lakes! scenery area. The included mesh, along with the WEL pack, makes for endless little nestled towns and cities all in the Swiss mountains. Climbing up to about 9,000 max - don't want to start going loopy with the lack of oxygen. I love how this city is just tucked-away down in this valley! It bends-around to the left back towards the lakes, which is where the snaky river comes from. Same valley, headed North. Lots of nice erosions in the mountains. Every now and then a gust of wind would come up and blow my little ultralight about 15 degrees to the left or right. Up in the Northern valley I discovered two little landing strips. I initially thought that the stair-step like appearance on the mountains was an artifact in the WEL mesh, but Wikipedia showed me photos of farming techniques that have caused this to happen. They terrace the land and plant crops there. There was a major airport at the end, where I landed and forgot to snap pictures. Oh well. lol
May 2, 201412 yr Grüezi! I like this because I lived some time in Switzerland, and these areas - I guess somewhere in the Valle Leventina - were aim of my weekend tours. You may install some sceneries from here http://www.isra.ch/index.htm (click at "Sceneries" at the left side) They work without Switzerland Pro, too, although some adjustments in the afcad and some excludes may be necessary. May 2, 201412 yr Author There's one city in the area, called Lugano I think? Says that lots of celebrities like to vacation there... The scenery pack, combined with an ultralight, just makes me want to vacation there!
May 2, 201412 yr On your third picture, there's Lugano-Agno airport, indeed. The city itself is situated behind the little hill above the airport. A lovely city for vacation or just a cappucchino at Saturday afternoon... Unfortunately, I don't know a good scenery for this airport that is better than just an afcad. May 2, 201412 yr CR Software did a rather nice rendition of Lugano as part of their VFR Airfields series. For freeware nothings beats this ... VFR on Lario, Italy (FS9) ... thread right below in this very forum and AVSim Library.

May 2, 201412 yr Author Oh well, not a big deal. My mistake I guess. =) I think I just installed some scenery for the Lugano area ... have to boot back up and fly there to see if it was improved.
May 3, 201412 yr Well we'll just plough on regardless, sorry all you PDiddy and Effeh Sex and wotnot users... I own Switzerland Pro, and was mightily disappointed with it at the price. So much so, that it just got parked and forgotten. I was wondering which of the many available airport sceneries might fit in with it. I have Isra's clever airbases, but looking back at the likes of the Suisse 2004 sceneries, there's surely a whole heap of possibilities?
May 3, 201412 yr Author Installed ... what is this ... Swiss Airfields 1 and 2 ... Lugano! With ... bright green grass?! That can't be right. lol Well we'll just plough on regardless, sorry all you PDiddy and Effeh Sex and wotnot users... I own Switzerland Pro, and was mightily disappointed with it at the price. So much so, that it just got parked and forgotten.I was wondering which of the many available airport sceneries might fit in with it. I have Isra's clever airbases, but looking back at the likes of the Suisse 2004 sceneries, there's surely a whole heap of possibilities? It was a steep price tag, but I will reinstall it here in the next day or so...However, I'm fairly certain that I bought the cheaper Swiss Airfields 1 and 2 because I was like you: For what I paid, it was still lacking something.I think it was just massive photosceneries in general that made me feel that way... Like I love all the MegaScenery series, and the Pacific NW one especially. But I still bought scenery packs for the fields, like SeaTac or Ranger Creek.Mr. "BOT" strikes again!Hmmmmmmmmmm Not happy. I want to specifically support the FS9 community...
May 3, 201412 yr Author According to Wikipedia: Lugano (Italian: Lugano; Ticinese: Lügàn) is a city in southern Switzerland, in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino, which borders Italy. The population of the city proper was 61,837 as of December 2012, and the population of the Urban agglomeration was over 145,000. It is the 9th largest city of Switzerland by population, the largest city in Ticino, and the largest city with an Italian speaking majority outside of Italy. The city lies on Lake Lugano, surrounded by the mountains of the Lugano Prealps. Its warm summers and the fact that in recent years it has attracted an ever growing number of celebrities, entertainers and successful athletes have given it the nickname of the "Monte Carlo of Switzerland". On the map of Switzerland that I looked at, it's located at the very southern tip. This place sounds utterly awesome, and on my first flight it also strikes me as just a tremendously beautiful place for flight!
May 3, 201412 yr the Suisse 2004 sceneries They are just fantastic and, although some years old, better than many brandnew freeware or even payware sceneries. My graffiti picture in the other "moved" thread was La Cote (near Geneva) from Daniel Gauthiers huge work. Swiss Airfields? CR Software? Never heard! Where did you buy them? The CR-Webshop seems to be out of service. And which fields are included in Swiss Airfield? I'm looking especially for Lugano, Locarno (CR has made them) and Sion. Suisse 2004 doesn't contain them. Harald P.S. One beg to the Moderators: We discuss Switzerland sceneries for FS9 here rather than showing screenshots so please move this topic back to the FS9 forum. Many thanks! May 3, 201412 yr Author Um... had to dig up the original stuff ... says Flylogic ... several different packages, including Switzerland Pro ... also have Alterheim; Scion 2005; Bern; Vienna; Genva; Swiss Airfields Part 2 and 5; Zurich; Dubendorf; and Lugano. Went to the Flylogic website and it doesn't look like most are for sale anymore?! Also, the bright-green grass of Lugano blends in better with Switzerland Pro now installed. I'll have more screenshots here in a while.
May 3, 201412 yr Author Re-installed Switzerland Pro ... Lugano blends-in better. Going to be using my RealAir Scout Amphibian this time around. I made a nice flightplan that took me on a GPS tour of quite a few Swiss airfields, but for some odd reason (and quite irritatingly so) the screenshots I triggered for like the entire first half of the flight never seemed to have saved. Bummer. Here's the plan I made: So, I had to land and re-fuel at LIMW (was down to 35%), and then had to climb back up to 10,000' by going back and forth in the valley. Speaking of things going back and forth and gaining altitude: That must be one HECK of a drive for a car! lol Getting back up to altitude, I have nice GE Pro and Ultimate Terrain Europe scenery - and more of those terraced mountains to my left. I *think*that is either my Lukla or the Switzerland Pro scenery off in the distance. My library was arranged with Switzerland Pro at the bottom, the various Swiss airfields on top, and Lukla on top as well. I have FSDiscover! running and showing me the airfields and cities and such. Alps getting closer ... and more of those crazily-winding roads. How are such roads maintained?! Headed back into the photoscenery. I'm going to have to really squeeze every ounce of power out of this ampibian to get through this area. Barely made it! Wheeeee! =) Utterly amazing scenery. Switzerland Pro has some bad spots, but THIS makes up for it. Scion up ahead (throttle totally idled, just gliding down from 9,000') This is the Scion Pro pack being triggered. Scion, as I understand it, has military jets and civilian craft all on the same airfield. Got clearance for pattern entry - still have enough airspeed to bleed that I'm gliding right into the pattern. lol Finals. Military hangars and jets to my left, civilian to my right - and a plane I'm following right on final. Taxing to parking. I seriously loved this flight. The weather with Active Sky 6 produced challenging crosswinds and gusts ... was just awesome. The only scenery conflict (besides the hard edges between GE Pro and photoscenery, those are kinda unavoidable) was the Cloud9 Fly The Lakes! pack - I had to turn that off. It produced a huge section of deeper green scenery that just looked awful with Switzerland Pro. For the money, Switzerland Pro still strikes me as ... meh ... the mountains are AWESOME ... but other areas, like the areas around Lugano, are just a blurry lime-green mess.
