QualityWings update

Featured Replies

Glad you posted this. Was just about to and good thing i double checked.

Really coming together nice. The wingflex could be interesting to see since the real has a pretty extreme flex.

Yes it's good, in terms of flight dynamics & sounds I find it way superior when compared to the CS 757.

Is the QW757 any good. Am tossing up between this and CS757

I'm going to attempt to answer in an un-biased way, even though I'm partial to the CS version.

Sounds: The QW version beats CS in almost every single way. Almost no competition here. If sounds are big to you, go QW

Interior: In my opinion, the CS has a nicer looking VC than QW (and the rather unimportant Virtual cabin), but neither offering is a new product, so don't expect PMDG/A2A quality in the VC. One gripe of mine with the QW is that you can't manipulate the FMC in the VC, you MUST pull up the 2D panel. The QW also comes with several versions of the VC. One being a retro set of gauges, and a 1st gen. PFD/ND and EICAS system, as well as a newer current gen glass cockpit set-up.

Exterior: Pretty much a draw. Both models are great-looking. McPhat studios made some repaints for the CS one a while back, but they are payware. Freeware offerings are kind of hit and miss. The QW version has a massive library of paints, and a few that are McPhat-like in HD quality. All free. With the base CS version you get the -200 model, and then have to buy extra models (F,-300,), whereas the QW gives you all the models in one purchase. The CS version has an animation panel that's a tad gimmicky, but is worth mentioning.

Systems: The QW has always been marketed as a lite-systems offering for more of a beginning crowd, while the CS version is a little bit more "full" for lack of a better term. The CS FMC has a few extra features but nothing that will change the way you fly it. The QW FMC can load FSX GPS plans and have plans manually input. Both have LNAV/VNAV, and a decent EICAS simulation (from what I can tell). A few procedures are automated for you in the QW, whilst you must perform them manually in the CS version. All depends on user preference really.

Performance: Roughly the same on my system. Nothing too resource-intensive IMO.

Bugs with CS: I put this in here because some people experience a lot of issues with CS, thus their kind of nasty rep. I've rarely experienced these issues, and they have walkarounds, but they don't always work, and it is a little frustrating that CS hasn't fixed them yet. IMO it doesn't affect the way I feel about the product, only because I don't ususally experience the bugs reported.

Honestly, it all comes down to what you want. They are alike yet similar. I personally feel like the QW has a bit more value for the money because of all the models you get, but I really put the CS one a little bit ahead of the QW offering in my book.

Hope it helped!

Thanks for the review, certainly helpful. I am keen on th CS but the reports of bugs does put me off a bit.
