June 12, 201411 yr The time is better spent simply updating your BGL file when you find an airport has changed. That's really the only thing affected. I understand your point. I also did that for a short while using the tools coming with FS Global 2010. ILS/LOC frequency adaption (upgrade/downgrade) is actually the easy part, adding runways is more than a hobby... That is why I mentioned EDDF. In 2006/07 there where only ILS 07L/25R, 07R/25L ARR/DEP and a 18 DEP. Now there is one more runway and they changed the designators from ILS 07L/25R to ILS 07C/25C and the new one has gotten the old designator ILS 07L/25R. Besides that they also changed "almost every" frequency. So one actually gets the impression that "no one is at home" in EDDF if you get there with the newest AIRAC without the respective "eye opening" flight preparation... My wish matches the one of Romain: Some kind of AIRAC for FSX if only it was so simple... Going even further would mean NOTAMs could deactivate VORs/ILSs, shorten or close runways, airways closed due to e.g. active dangerous areas and so on, all on a temporary basis... A dream? Yes! Greetings, Claus Claus KUEPPER
June 12, 201411 yr Commercial Member The AIRAC Nav Data Sets used by FMCs generally include current SID/STAR procedures whereas the sim only has approaches, but that's all the stock GPS and ATC uses. I think Friendly Panels does an FMC implementation off the simdata, to add like a gauge to stock aircraft such as the CRJ and 737. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
June 12, 201411 yr Going even further would mean NOTAMs could deactivate VORs/ILSs, shorten or close runways, airways closed due to e.g. active dangerous areas and so on, all on a temporary basis... A dream? Yes! Yep, with some flight planner, you can retrieve already automatically the NOTAM for the departure/arrival/alternate airports and also for the different airspaces... So definitely, the dream would be they would automatically be applied to FSX. There are so many improvements that could have been brought to FSX if only the development hadn't stopped! But I think it gets a bit out of topic. Romain Roux Avec l'avion, nous avons inventé la ligne droite. St Exupéry, Terre des hommes.
June 12, 201411 yr There are so many improvements that could have been brought to FSX if only the development hadn't stopped! Yes, that is true: not only FSX-AIRACS or "dynamic NOTAMs" but also e.g. raindrops vs. wipers/visibility, icing and "walkarounds with issue finding" are some of the few I miss a lot... Regarding FSX development: there is an interesting thread going on you probably are following already. Especially this post made today is quite amazing: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/444096-microsoft-sells-license-to-fs-franchise-part-2/page-18#entry3008455 If it means a bright future e.g. for FSX NAV data base handling improvement, or an "MS Flight"-like downgrade or if FSX becomes swept away from its market? We will see, for sure... Greetings, Claus Claus KUEPPER
June 12, 201411 yr I heard that it is the MS Flight license that is being sold. So no hope about FSX unfortunately if it is confirmed. Romain Roux Avec l'avion, nous avons inventé la ligne droite. St Exupéry, Terre des hommes.
June 12, 201411 yr I fly on vatsim alot. Sometimes to VTBS. The entire airport doesn't exist in default scenery. Solution: Update scenery. http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx.html Stupid solution:Fly there and expect the VATSIM controllers to take into account that the airport isn't even there. Next weekend, the "Cross the Pacific" flyin event is on (Saturday 21st 13:00z to Sunday 01:00z) and I am flying out of RKSI. Default FSX is missing a runway at RKSI. I don't want to end up taxying to a non-existant runway, so I updated my airport in Flightsim. Update the flightsim, not "Down-date" the AIRAC data. However, if you don't fly online, then you CAN down-date your AIRAC data... by using the (actually free!) Airac from 2006. Available right here at http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=pic-pmdg_0608.zip&CatID=root&Go=Search This will transport your AIRAC back in time to August 2006. All the airways, navaids, existing airports and runways etc will be 2006. Remember though, if you are using up-to-date data to plan flights, you may find some airways don't exist in both the new and old data. An example I know of: The airway between YMML and YBCS used to be a single airway, with aircraft travelling along it in 2 directions. In the latest AIRAC released just a few days ago, this was updated to 2 one-direction airways with new designators, and the old single airway is now invalid. So if you were to use an up to date flightplanner with AIRAC 1406, it would plan a YMML - YBCS flight as ML H50 MNG Q76 BIB J64 CS But the FMC with AIRAC 0608 loaded would not find Q76 airway. instead, using 0608, the valid flightplan would be: ML H50 TOBOB T139 BOXER T81 BIB J64 CS Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator
June 12, 201411 yr The solution is simple: when you fly to an airport you've never been to GO TO AVSIM AND LOOK FOR AN UPDATED BGL like Kyle and Trent say. It's not hard at all. It takes care of runways, taxiways, ILS frequencies and courses, everything. And really, guys... If you want a navdata update for FSX so badly, how much time did you spend looking for one? It's literally the first result: http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html Cristi Neagu

Really BIG THANKS for providing this useful description! Searched for exactly that! 26868 downloads (now 26869) for the AIRAC0608 speak for themselves, I think. You really made my morning! If you want a navdata update for FSX so badly, how much time did you spend looking for one? It's literally the first result: http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html Thanks also for that. I refused a bit from using it in the past as RWYs were explained to be not 100% updated. Now they write "ILSs and Rwy Ids are also corrected in European countries". So I will take a look at it again. Thanks a lot and have a nice day, Claus Claus KUEPPER
June 13, 201411 yr 26868 downloads (now 26869) for the AIRAC0608 speak for themselves, I think. Don't forget that it was the last free one after years of service at navadata.at (Navigraph predecessor). It was also the only one available for a seriously long while (IIRC, Navigraph didn't start selling until about a year after navdata.at stopped service) --Peter Fabian
