June 22, 201411 yr  Morning to all! I`m considering getting a Solid State Hard Drive for my new rig,has any one made the transition and what are the benefits doing so?
June 22, 201411 yr SSd's provide faster loading times, they are small and more robust (great for mobile computing) and don't require defragmenting. They are still more expensive than HDD's even though they are gradually reducing in price. A compromise ... Seagate's Hybrid SSHD, available in 1 or 2 Tb ... more expensive than HDD, cheaper than SDD. Offer quicker loading times than HDD thanks to the SS cache on-board but otherwise retain the same pros/cons as HDDs. I have two 1Tb versions which perform admirably in my desktop computer. One of these days I shall purchase an mSATA drive, which fits into my motherboard and therefore frees up a valuable SATA port, to hold Windows and most used utilities/email/browsers etc.
