Opus Cams Update

Recommended Posts

Just an update for Opus camera users who use ASN, FS Global and Rex Weather.  Stephen has released the latest beta which improves DHM with Opus LWE turned off.

I just tested using the PMDG777, and all DHM functions work including "bump Aircraft etc when using ASN for weather. Well worth the download.

This is not a Opus versus Ezydok thread thanks.

I have no wish to 'hijack' the thread or indeed turn it into a battle field; but do Opus offer just the camera add on without the weather engine?  I would really like to replace EZDok.

Ian,

Opus has a Liv e Weather Engine along with Live Camera. You can turn the Live Weather Engine off and just use the camera, if you prefer to use another weather engine.

Do the Opus Live Cameras work in a similar way to EZDok in that you can set keystroke shortcuts for various views?  And second, so they also suffer from the small shift in position that occurs with the view over time during a flight (I think this may be an FSX thing) ?

Thank you Mike.  I was hoping for just the camera part.  Is a demo offered?

It is an FSX thing. Ryan (tabs) has mentioned a few times that it wasn't fixable.

There is a demo Ian. Second link down on the right http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

There is a control you can manipulate to lessen the fsx bug.

can you Opus

Can you what Ron ? Do you mean just use the camera's, then yes.as mentioned above

The reason for the update is so you can use weather addons like ASN and Opus cameras together with Opus weather disabled.

It works really well now with ASN. The Bump feature too. You can now tick any option you prefer.

Anyone tried this with the Majestic yet? Still had issues last time I check with that addon and have not given it another go.

Important info I left out. The beta version is the same version number as the release version. if you are using the release version, install the beta, even though the version numbers are the same. The release does not have the Cam update.

@William, have not tried the Dash yet, when I get some time I will.

Which control and how?

Which control and how?

Post by Stephen@Opus:

If someone could come up with a formula or measurement that would identify the amount of axis shift in an aircraft then we certainly would be willing to provide just such an automatic option.

Unfortunately, no one has been able to define how the shift relates to latitude and longitude so it has not been possible.

What we have done is provide a very quick and simple method to correct for any axis shift in a displayed camera view using the Set Camera function in our Live Camera Control (LCC).

So the quickest and simplest method is to use LCC to correct for the axis shift and then click on the LCC Set Camera option. You can also use the LCC Shortcuts to assign buttons or keys to the LCC functions or better still install a six axis gamepad controller specifically for LCC. I use a Sony DualShock3 gamepad controller.

When a controller is used the correction takes just a second or two.

So what I have done is created a shortcut key "1" and if ever the eye point shifts, i hit the "1" key and all good.

Very nice, now, can you explain that to me like I'm a six year old? Just kidding, thanks for the info, will give it a go.

I have switched to the FSI 4.00.19 beta (at the bottom of the beta list). Much more comfortable, as you can assign DHM for the VC of all your aircraft with one click. Works perfectly, including for the Majestic Dash 8.

Kind regards

Rene

Why not just work this out through testing. The variables are latitude and distance of the camera from the centre of the aircraft. You have the 6DOF simconnect variables set up, so it's surely not that hard to work it out.

Sorry Bryn, that went over my head. Are you referring to the Quote from Opus Dev ?
