July 20, 201411 yr ...when you actually enjoy watching the progress bar and all files passing by when installing a new addon  ? Yesterday I decided to go ahead and buy both FTX Global Vector and FTX Global openLC Europe. Didn't have time for installation yesterday but today I started by first uninstalling my old addons UTX Europe and Scenery Tech Europe and then I finished off by also manually searching for and removing any left-over files to make sure my FSX installation was as clean and tidy as possible before installing the new addons. I just completed installing FTX Global Vector including the 1.15 patch and the first part of FTX Global openLC Europe and while I was sitting here watching all files flying by on the screen in an almost insane speed I realized I think I'm actually enjoying things like this almost as much as flying...the great feeling watching how good your computer you already invested far too much money in performs with all it's latest and greatest hardware and knowing you will really soon once again have a new "toy" to say 'Hello' to next time you fire up FSX or in this case even two new toys! I guess when you think and feel like this...now that must be the definitive definition of a true FS nerd
July 20, 201411 yr I guess when you think and feel like this...now that must be the definitive definition of a true FS nerd Hey WebMaximus, Me too, I purchased these both yesterday and am right in the middle of installing now. The installation process is all part of the process!
July 20, 201411 yr Author Yeah, it's a great feeling isn't it! Good to know I'm not the only one
July 20, 201411 yr Yes Sir, I actually go into the details and watch all the individual files as they are loaded. To think a human hand modified all those files is insane. Thank you Orbx. As someone who never flew in Europe, I have made my last 6 flights there, and working up on my online skills to transition from USA phraseology to European when it comes to ATC now and procedures. Second ,you will NOT be unhappy wiht those purchases. both are game changers. Seriously. Now couple that with the Pilots mesh and you are in BUSINESS. I cant wait for Orbx/FTX to develop North America. AND
July 20, 201411 yr Author To think a human hand modified all those files is insane. Yes, really amazing and thinking of it that way I think the price asked for a product of this kind seems very valid. Well, you made some $$ investment, so its good to realize it coming online. Second ,you will NOT be unhappy wiht those purchases. both are game changers. Seriously. Now couple that with the Pilots mesh and you are in BUSINESS. I cant wait for Orbx/FTX to develop North America. Sounds very promising and I'm looking forward to my first flight. With some luck I might even be able to squeeze in a short hop tonight. Already have FS Global Ultimate - Europe/Africa installed and hope that will work good with these new addons. I've seen some posts where FS Global 2010 is recommended, not 100% sure what the difference is but I think Ultimate is even higher resolution IIRC...?
July 20, 201411 yr Every time I've ever reconfigured FS9 AI .bgls to FSX standard - which probably number in thousands by now, a warm, fuzzy feeling always came over me while watching the conversion process shown by the AIFPC utility. No joke. Yep. I'm a true nerd, through and through. B)
July 20, 201411 yr The bar defining a MSFS nerd hangs quite low nowadays. Where's the "no time acceleration", "real time boarding", "hand-installed, world-wide AI", "manually converted AI aircraft into FSX format" or "ten hours in front of [design tool] without nicotine, food or toilet breaks" crowd? 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days

Bolded is me, especially the last one lol.

July 21, 201411 yr I love watching the little bar graph moving to the right when installing & copying. Sometimes, I even put my mouse cursor on the blocks to see how they are moving. Mmm... not sure if I'm a geek/nerd or very bored! BTW, tell me you never do the block/cursor thing? Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
July 21, 201411 yr Hey Richard, since you had UTX Europe, could you please -- in a later time -- tell if there's a big difference, quality-wise, between UTX and Vector + OpenLC? Also, couldn't you keep SceneryTech's landclass? I think it covers Russia, which isn't covered by OpenLC EU, I guess... Is there any compatibility issue between OpenLC EU and SceneryTech LC? Sorry for so many questions and thanks for everything! Regards, Gabriel J. T. Rodrigues My mods in the library My photography (site updated!) English isn't my native language. Sometimes, I'm going to make mistakes or sound strange and for this I'm sorry. Please feel free to correct me at anytime. Thanks for your comprehension!

Sorry for so many questions and thanks for everything! Regards, Only did one flight so far from ESSA-ENZV and I did notice a difference in the variation of different types of ground beneath me when I was at F360 compared to UTX and ST and I also noticed a difference on the approach into ENZV where I guess it might have been new autogen objects that made it feel new to me. Of course I need to do lots of more flying to be able to say for sure how big/good the difference is but I'm already happy with these new addons and one reason other than the pure looks is it feels good in a way to have all layers from one supplier knowing they should work very well together and were made to do so. Not sure about ST and openLC and any compatibility issues but like I said above I like to keep my FSX installation as "clean" as possible and only mix things when absolutely required so in this case I'm happy with using openLC only. Also for the time being I don't do any flying in Russia so not an issue for me at this moment.
