July 22, 201411 yr Commercial Member Hi, Please see the attached. I did two circuits. First comprises two touchdowns and go-around, the second is two touchdowns and full stop. Autobrake and spoiler NOT selected to minimize extraneous sounds at touchdown. 777-300ER. EDIT: Why have the upload function if you can't upload? Best regards, Robin.

July 22, 201411 yr Hmm - let me do some more tests to check that it is the mains I'm hearing. Seriously? We're not asking to hear tyres screeching as it touches down. Maybe a dull thud, but definitely not silence. It's a 200 but that's not the point... This is the 300. You can still hear it despite the rubbish audio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=bCiZNhOb71w#t=303 Best regards, Robin. Maybe its me, but I only hear the air frame vibration and flexing in the two videos, can't hear the gear touch down. I only hear it in real life from the passenger compartment right over the wings. July 22, 201411 yr Commercial Member You hear it as a general rattle/low frequency thud. You won't hear tyre screech or anything like that. For Martin, it seems to be missing, but it is definitely present here. This is what you WON'T hear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ZnQ3nR0J6GA#t=12 Best regards, Robin.
July 23, 201411 yr Author To be clear... When I touch down there is no sound change at all. It sounds as if nothing has occurred, no landing event at all. I find myself doing a double take, am I down, am I still flying, no idea as a result of anything audible. Only an instrument check confirms I am down. And for Kyle's benefit, who for some reason seems to think I'm referring to the ER... this is in the 200. I clearly mentioned earlier on that prior to SP! I had no touchdown sounds, thus in the 200. Below for example. I hear nothing like this, no change in sound whatsoever. If you listen to the video with your eyes closed, you hear the aircraft touchdown. I don't, no change in sound at all. To be honest, I don't care if the sound you hear is the main gear, the spoilers deploying or the pilots flatulence, the point is it's silent for me.
July 23, 201411 yr Martin how many files have you got in the sound folder of the 200, I counted 108 in mine I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg

July 23, 201411 yr Author Martin how many files have you got in the sound folder of the 200, I counted 108 in mine 108 same as you. There are three touchdown sound files. One I managed to play, then for some reason they all refused to play. I submitted a ticket to PMDG because the FLATULENCE.WAV file is missing in my installation!!! Oliver you have to be feeding the pilot beans for that particular .WAV file to be present.
July 23, 201411 yr 108 same as you. There are three touchdown sound files. One I managed to play, then for some reason they all refused to play. Oliver you have to be feeding the pilot beans for that particular .WAV file to be present. On a slightly more serious note, Martin, I was able to play all three T/D sound files yesterday evening. What is more, contrary to my first report here, I was under the impression of some sounds on touchdown with my 2nd flight yesterday. Will check again, with volume (sub-woofer volume, in particular) cranked up further. What happened to AVSIM
July 23, 201411 yr Ok - there are a number of different touchdown sounds in operation on the 777: Firstly - there are the FSX ones which are in the same folder as the engine sounds - the problem is that the FSX implementation is not too good in this area - even with the sound files at max volume you struggle to hear the sound in the sim (unless you hit the ground so hard that it is almost a crash!) - so basically not realistic and you rarely hear these in any aircraft. Secondly - we added 9 main gear touchdown sounds (yes nine!) - and one is chosen at random in every flight - the files are located in the "FSX/Sound/PMDG/Various" folder and are named "PMDG_777_Touchdown.wav" to "PMDG_777_Touchdown9.wav" - These are programmed so that the volume of the sound is proportional to touchdown impact force. As you can see from playing back the nine sounds that it is mostly the sound of cockpit rattling - rather than bass heavy thuds or bangs - but they are there and do playback. If you really want to test that they are played back on landing - turn off the FSX engines - turn off the packs and im pretty sure you will hear one of the nine play back on main gear touchdown. Alternatively - you can always use an editor to make them louder or replace them with any other sound you wish. Armen L CholakianPMDG Sound Engineer
July 23, 201411 yr Thanks, Armen, found them and played them in isolation. With today's landing and volume cranked up, my cues are still/only the spoilers' sound and the spoilers' indication on the lower DU, with flightcontrols selected. Even with higher sound volumes I'm unable to hear the actual MLG touchdown (and I do believe this is correct for the 77L flightdeck environment); looks like I've mastered the greasers already and now I should better move on towards real landings! Thanks for the info Armen. No ideas why they are dead silent for me. Someone sent me a recording of their touchdown today, and the touchdown for them was exactly as I had been expecting. Ultra stealth landings for me, no matter how hard I impact the tarmac.
July 24, 201411 yr Martin Just wondering have you set the correct settings for the sliders in the fsx setting of the sound etc and cdu sound settings etc? just a thought I know you already checked but no one has asked this of yet Suppose doing a uninstall/re install is another option to try I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
July 24, 201411 yr Author Yes Pete, FSX sound sliders are correct. What are you using for the CDU sound settings?
