Just Bought Fsx Fiber..and Man, Does It Work!

You can maintain 30fps in the PMDG 777? I don't believe you. That is not possible. Unless you run default scenery.

Maybe you should have been a bit more diplomatic, saying you don't believe Bert, when he has a good rep for helping people on this forum.

I can, in the PMDG 777 Taxing @ FSDT PHNL  Get the same at FB KSFO etc

Don't use fiber

Have no problem at all maintaining an average FPS of 28 to 30 and I have heaps and heaps of addon scenery. 100% UT2 and 30% MTX hybrid AI.

Well, after flying through many variable 'bad boy' custom scenery scenarios, I found that the following settings of:

Low: 15 FPS (I personally now think of this setting, as Low Altitude or Airport Operations)

Medium: 30 FPS  (I personally now thing of this setting as Mid Altitude)

Deactivate Setting ( this one as anywhere I can keep around 30 FPS, FSX on its own, or let's call this 'FL' altitudes...)

really does the trick. I found that you truly want the LOWEST FPS setting you can fly with for the LOW, and here is why. If you read the manual, you will see that the program truly tries to give you what YOU direct it to...whether you really want the FSX to pump out FPS as the main focal point, or ...do you want smoothness of animation and flight, as the focal point.? If you will give up some FPS 'as a number being displayed', you will STILL get smoothness (for my system spec's...even down to a head-shaking 8 FPS (still chuckling about that....after all these years...geez!)) at a lower FPS setting for the LOW setting of FSX Fiber, but what you will pick up...is stable clarity of graphics, (some have seen some downgrading of scenery elements, in the trade off for what FSX Fiber needs to 'cut out of the mix' in real time at that very moment in your flight, to maintain critical smoothness of animation)  and for myself, I found that a setting of 15 more than allows FSX Fiber to do its magic in the background, but yet..still maintain clear graphics while it gives me that very smoothness, I have never seen before running FSX, when FPS for any reason, goes 'South'.

So, I invite you to try those numbers. We all know that 30 FPS will give you the 'whole enchilada' for FSX, but by running 1/2 of that figure for the Low setting, will ALSO give you what you bought FSX Fiber for...a technical new-boy way to MAINTAIN that 'whole enchilada', under FSX scenery stress,.and folks...it sure does! As Jim Skorma commented, we keep seeing new and novel ways that developers are bringing to the table....to keep FSX as a classic, now, and well into the future.  "I certainly agree, Jim, and that's why FSX gets used as much as P3D!".

Why do people have problems in the first place?  I have a ton of scenery, addons, and complex planes like the NGX.  My system  is very high end, and I hand tweaked it,  I have never had any problems with stuttering or texture blur.   I have a feeling that people just install various tweaks (such as Word Not Allowed's or NickN's guides) without knowing what it does, or even worse they run Bojote's Tweak tool which is very out dated for today's hardware.  It's silly...

Really?  That's what I do?   Oh...ok....

NOT!

It is that I have very high demands of visuals...and with certain very highly detailed ORBX (San Fran Bay area of Northern California SP1) things can go low on the FPS count.  This tool allows for smoothness when FSX can not handle the object and rendering count. Try running at 1,200 feet over ORBX's Squamish, with all the eye-candy turned on...and get back to us...with a frame count clearly displayed and not in pause mode....  If you are getting less than 20 frames, you will see stutter, or some even worse 'chunking'.  That is an honest statement.  This program relieves that.

Post Edit:   I'll tell you what....let's compare apples to apples on how we have demands upon FSX.  I'll post my entire .cfg file, and you do as well.  Let's compare how you have your demands set up...so as to have no stutter. That is the ONLY way to have a definitive statement.  Or...you can just search for a few of my posts that I have already attached my entire .cfg file, and understand why I would be raving about a program that gives me back smoothness, under the worse-case usage.  I'll post mine, right after I see you post yours. This will be an interesting read....

Not everyone can afford all of this or have this superior knowledge. So they rely on others such as Word Not Allowed, Nick and Bojote and software tools such as this.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, I did not say a single thing about this tool, I am just saying in general that I do not have any problems.  Perhaps people just do not know how to setup their system, I do.   I have Orbx, I also have a ton of addons, and I have no problems.  I have nothing to prove to you,  I did try the demo though, and it made things worse, so i removed it, simple as that.

Again though, I was just asking why do people have such problems.  I did not mention anything, good or bad, about the tool.  So you can stop needlessly trying to defend it.

The guides are good, what I am saying is that I think some people just do EVERY tweak, needed or not, and without knowing what it does.  That is not good :)

Oh..I wasn't defending it. I was saying that one can't ASSUME that any given user...does not have the user-experience to set up his or her system and FSX specifically to maximize the experience. We all have different expectations,  and meet-requirements...and THAT will dictate the experience.  If this meet's-demand places too high a burden on FSX, without 3PD assistance, then this type of program is most welcome...and meets the need and requirement of the purchaser.  My panties are never in a bunched config....too relaxed in general to have them that way!!!

Cheers!

Fiber actually reduced my fps and I wasn't impressed at all.  I run an AMD card and notice that this is good for Nvidea users only.

My system is;

AMD 980 Graphics.

AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processer 4.40GHz

RAM 16.0 GB

I read the documents and tried the demo but could not notice any difference.  I really would like to try again because I have to think there is something there but I just don't have the right settings yet although I am not sure if its possible to re-run the demo.

Fiber actually reduced my fps .....

This was not done by Fiber. Sorry but it was done by you. If YOU had set in the "lower frame target" LESS frames from what you were already getting, you will get that fps (lower, you asked for it) and better graphic quality from what you were already getting.

It is technically impossible to get LESS fps from what you were already getting. Same or more yes, less is -sorry but this is precise-  just science fiction...

You are most correct, for instance, on my settings, my LOW=15.  I am telling FSX Fiber, that "...give me smoothness as a priority over FPS, but see if you can also do that with giving me at least my 'requested' FPS threshold of 15...     I think that people who have not had a good experience, have not quite got the concept down...   Hey, if anybody wants to try this out...just use:

LOW, set to 15,  and Medium set to 30.   Away you go....if your system has some juice, you WILL see that smoothness way down in the dregs, that you NEVER could have had before installing this program.  Nobody can get 8-10 frames out of a killer scenery, and have it not a chunk-show.  With this program...you can. Amazingly, you can.....

Awesome writing, Sesqaushtoo!

You are in the process of writing a book I understand? Put that on hold and let´s have the most brilliant FSX guide ever made, you might call it:

"Zen and the Art of FSX Maintenance"

You can do it, I´m sure...

There are a ton of 'em out there...and good ones!  Thanks for your encouragement.  My wife has my nose to the pen and paper....  Women are great time-management experts...heck...they have to be!  Mine is no exception... :o

how does this software play with dx10?
