August 4, 201411 yr A few pics of my very long, hot and sometimes wet day at the "Big Show" USAF Thunderbirds. Not very good stills with my cell phone.
August 4, 201411 yr Great pics, Steve, thanks. Did you happen to notice if the Icon had flaps or folding wings? Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
August 4, 201411 yr Great pics, Steve. Thanks for posting. Good to get up close to the Osprey too. We were supposed to have a couple at SunNFun this year, but they got cancelled. I'm sure you had a great time. Thank you. August 4, 201411 yr Thanks Steve. As to Luis’s question, looking at Steve’s #2 shot of the rear of the Icon, it might have both. Orange the folding wing joint, and green the flaps. Just my guess, that and $5 might get you a cup of coffee or maybe tea? J. R.

August 4, 201411 yr Commercial Member I wonder how Icon sales are going. I'd say very well. Their website says that over 1,000 delivery positions have been assigned. http://www.iconaircraft.com/buy-your-icon.html Brandon Filer
August 4, 201411 yr Author I do believe that both the folding wing and the flaps are incorporated in the new production design. steve
August 4, 201411 yr I'd say very well. August 4, 201411 yr Author In the back of their hanger they actually have four screens running Microsoft flight for people to fly the icon. I would say their deal with Microsoft worked very well for them. steve

August 4, 201411 yr I had hoped they would be at SunNFun this year but it didn't happen. Disappointed as I really wanted to see this plane in person. Carbon Cubs were there though and interestingly enough, one was painted in the red scheme and one in yellow. Nice little plane, but waaaaay overpriced in my opinion. A friend is building a Highlander right now that will perform as well as the CC for a whole lot less moolah. Thank you. August 5, 201411 yr The GPS in the Icon looks good, I wish the one in Flight were like it. J. R.
August 5, 201411 yr Thanks Steve. As to Luis’s question, looking at Steve’s #2 shot of the rear of the Icon, it might have both. Orange the folding wing joint, and green the flaps. Just my guess, that and $5 might get you a cup of coffee or maybe tea? You are right Jack! The Icon uses a three pin Locking System to manually fold the wings into the body of the aircraft, by using the internal hydraulics implemented in the wing to "pull the wings apart." The wing fold joint is hard to see on a white paint scheme, and the aim of the design was to ensure that the joint could not be seen, so Good Work Jack! I did a bit of research when the trailer for Flight came out on the Icon Aircraft Website. Lots of great animations to show how certain aspects of the aircraft work. Here is the Wingfold animation. I think that the model used in the animation is the one lent to Microsoft.... sure looks quite similar! As you may know, the wingfold was implemented in Flight, but controls for it was not mapped in the final product! :( Imagine the horror of your co-pilot, when folding the wings in mid-flight! August 5, 201411 yr Author Luckily there is a motion sensor in the controls that would not allow that to happen. steve
August 5, 201411 yr Talk about safety! Now that motion sensor would be very useful if you were flying in a plane with me! I think it's just me, but does the Icon A5 have a Virtual Horizon indicator (Attitude Indicator)? Isn't it a bit difficult to maneuver an aircraft through visuals; especially at night?
