September 6, 201411 yr Open the aircraft.cfg file for your PMDG 777; the version (or "build") number of your 777 installation is listed in its header. I had to search for that a little....it is hidden in the simobjects folder. It shows version 6061. (in my FSX backups I have only 5376 (original release) and 6036 (SP1). So SP1b was definately never on my system :-( Oooops. I did wonder whether you were actually still on SP1 when you were talking about asymmetric effects, because that's mainly what SP1b fixed. But I thought, no he's a pilot, we rely on pilots to get this kind of thing right. Can't be. If you've still got the installer that you thought was SP1b you could compare the file name, version and size to what you've just downloaded. That should be informative. If it's the same, something went wrong with the installation. The installer I downloaded manually on August 9th and the one from today are exactly the same size (113.945 KB), and are both created on 08/08/2014 15:21 I guess we can rule out a bad installer then. I went back through my notes and saw I definately did try to instal SP1b though. Here is a piece of my log on Aug 9th 2014: Downloaded and installed PMDG777 SP1b rebooted PC deleted FSX saved flights closed FSX Iinstalled Aerosoft NavDataPro updated NabDataPro installed PMDG airac 1408 It may be just the reinstall of SP1b that did the trick. will try that tomorrow. Well if that works out for you then that would be the only helpfull thing that has come out of all this.......and I guess anybody with the behavior we had should try that then. Ps maybe you should back things up first.....I dont want to be responsible for screwing up your install as well. ...he who shall not be named... I guess that beer is going to be on me then hey.....after 19 pages of bla bla ?! Rob Robson

September 6, 201411 yr Glad we are getting things sorted. Here is a graph of data that I captured on a test flight doing the speed-up - speed-down test capturing yoke force (calibrated FSPUIC read-ins after filtering only for spikes in FSUIPC -yoke is not calibrated in FSUIPC). These data confirm symmetrical yoke forces are required (yes I have checked my Ops Centre and both 200 and 300 reporting as up-to-date - Ver 1.10.6061; so SP1b) Note that at both A and B on the force curve (red) 100% yoke force (right axis bottom graph) was needed in both cases, and the force-change curves both show same progressive force input. The kick to low force at A happened because I was loosing elevator authority; somehow relaxing control-force (not quite to neutral, and then back to full force), recovered some of the control, but then I had to introduce trim to get things back on track. At B the force curve and VS curve get a bit shaky as I try to stabilise using yoke alone, until I bring in trim and I can start to fine-tune the control. Now in my post #252, I said I was experiencing yoke-force assymetry! That was on the test flight before this when I did not have my LUA script working properly so I can't go to data to compare to see if this was just a "feeling" - or real. Nothing was different bewteen the flights, except for one thing I can think of. In this flight I had the wind at tail when I did the speed change testing. In the previous flight when I thought I felt asymmetry I had the wind at left wing (cross) - could this make a difference? Anyhow I will test this again and collect data both in cross-wind and headwind testing, to confirm Rob Robin Harris
September 6, 201411 yr All the cool stuff one can do with that Lua :-) Yes....that is pretty much the behavior I saw yesterday as well. Rob Robson
September 6, 201411 yr So does it mean the trim is now working as it should? September 6, 201411 yr I can only speak for myself but I think so. Yesterday I only had time to do one short flight with SP1b. During hat quick test I seemed to be able to apply trim in both out of trim situations and without the need to go through neutral. I also had symmetric out of trim behavior. So that should make trim by feel possible. I still need to put my deadzone settings to something normal (I introduced very large deadzones for testing purposes I want to get rid off) and then fly around a bit. I will ofcourse give some feedback......the goal is after all to reach page 20 ;-) Ps......I would also love to know from others who have the "trim is not applied untill yoke goes through neutral" problem.....what version of the PMDG777 they are running. Check under Flightsimulator X folder/Simobjects/airplanes/PMDG777 open the aircraft.cfg with notepad and let us know what build number is on top of that page please. Rob Robson
September 6, 201411 yr the goal is after all to reach page 20 ;-) Ok I will help you to get to page 20 I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg

September 6, 201411 yr Ps......I would also love to know from others who have the "trim is not applied untill yoke goes through neutral" problem.....what version of the PMDG777 they are running. As I said, I have the up to date version 1.10.6061. As confirmed by the cfg, and the Ops Centre... with Issues. About to reinstall it so we shall see.
September 6, 201411 yr Okay, result... Re downloaded SP1b from the PMDG website. Reinstalled. Told me SP1b was already installed, but I reinstalled again anyway. Much Better! 210-310 as Ryan tried, I now get the same joystick deflection. Symmetrical as well. 250-310, I know get about 30mm deflection instead of the 6mm deflection I got before. I would advise anyone else having the minimal joystick deflection when below trim speed to reinstall SP1b, regardless as to whether you have the correct version number. No idea what happened the first time I installed it, original version corrupt or something, but working great now.
September 6, 201411 yr That is great news Martin. For you, because things are better now. I still have to try, but I bet trimming by feel is much better with a descend out of trim yoke deflection. And for me, because I dont look like a total fool then, lol.....(or snake oil sales man as someone has called me in another thread). Rob Robson
