September 4, 201411 yr After spending half the day trouble shooting its time to panic. When I open FSX Im greeted with swirly wavy corrupted graphics! I thought it was my video card but DCS works just fine and several bench tests have also come back okay, What I have done 1. Reinstalled fsx from a backup 2. Reset OC back to default 3. Reseated and cleaned video card 4. Tried a different fsx.cfg 5. Updated Video drivers Its only FSX that shows corrupt graphics. What should I try next? i5 2500k OC 4.5 nvidea 560TI 2xSSD ZORAN
September 4, 201411 yr fsx sp's installed? Everything as it should be in the FSX display settings? No anti virus scanning while you were on fsx? ....... Luke Pype
September 4, 201411 yr Author I have acceleration fsx gold edition installed so whatever sp's came with that. FSX display looks normal I have Fsx in the excluded section of the AV so it never scans however you have reminded me to scan fsx now for any viruses so that running as I type ZORAN
September 4, 201411 yr Just a wild guess, but maybe this version of the video card driver does not get along well with FSX. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
September 4, 201411 yr I agree with stans... what version of nVidia drivers do you have installed? Maybe try going a few versions back to see if the issue persists.
September 4, 201411 yr Author Good idea but even going back a few models hasn't helped. Wonder whats causing it. There is no aircraft when I pan through the views just lots of messed up scenery. Its not the fsx install because I tried a back up, same result Everything points to the graphics card except it works in other games.. ZORAN
September 4, 201411 yr It does look like a hardware issue but force a reinstall of DirectX might be worth a try too.
September 4, 201411 yr Author Yeah did that already. Strange thing is Im flying in DCS at the highest settings without so much as a stutter , I do love that sim ! It cant be the card itself. ZORAN
September 4, 201411 yr This looks as if the water is an issue. Does this error appear if the is no water displayed e.g. middle of a desert? What water are you using? Is that by an external program? Sascha Rieger | EVO Developer What is EVO • How to get Evo 2016 • FS9 Evolution Forum
September 4, 201411 yr A few ideas: Do you have NVidia Inspector installed? Since this is game specific, maybe the NVidia profile for FSX is messed up. IIRC, there's an option to reset the game profiles during driver re-installs, did you do that? Does it happen with a 'virgin' fsx.cfg? Buffer pool 'tweaks' can mess you up. Also, I've had crazy graphics spikes when my FSX FPS limiter was not in sync with my NI settings - e.g. - 1/2 refresh rate in NI (30 Hz) and FPS limiter set to 31 Hz gives me crazy spikes. September 4, 201411 yr Is DCS a DirectX 9 game though? Also maybe install a DX9/10/11 benchmark testing program and test all DX features with it.
September 4, 201411 yr Author ticking direct 10x works! now Im really confused I should add I created a virgin fsx.cfg and set nvidea inspector to default as well I will have a bit of play with it and see where it goes.. ZORAN
September 4, 201411 yr Interesting - Try deleting your DX9 shaders and let FSX rebuild them. September 4, 201411 yr Author Quick update...I solved the problem by doing a full pc restore that included both C and E (fsx) drives because I figure the problem had to be in C drive. Regular backing up saves the day again :-) Thanks everyone for trying to help me out. Now back to Flying ZORAN
