Preliminary tests of a new water mesh (texture is a temporary placeholder) created by the talented KW71. It requires a lot of work but it's worth it !

And an other one, better water texture, thanks to KW71 help.

Thanks! I hope too. Water mesh are a cool temporary solution, but it's really complex to place them correctly.

Might be a long wait, since as far as I can remember the developers have not mentioned progress on rivers, even in passing, for quite a while.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Yes, the first step will be the new road system wich will bring more possibilities on vector placement. As far as we know, rivers will be based on this tool. However there are a lot of other parameters (terrain errosion, banks, river bed, water animation) so a lot of work for them before an official release.

if we were to get a release, when do you guys think will it be?

Like clouds, I think rivers support will be required for their partners programs. It's an important aspect of the earth and they seem to aim for a high quality solution, to get a good result at close range. I'd say we can expect at least a complete year, but it can be more. Outerra developpement cycle is really low, but they always come out with elegant solution for massive scale elements.

Meanwhile, the community is creating temporary solutions :)
