Captains-I have completed building the release version of the 757, and would normally expect to move ahead with the release tonight (thursday) or tomorrow (friday.)There MAY be a minor snag, however....As I have previously mentioned, we have been waiting on a minor code fix from TRI...The fix is to correct a small problem in the way FLY!II displays day/night models. Currently, this bug causes FLY!II to lose track of the position of the landing gear visual model- which causes the gear to appear in the down position as the airplane transitions from day/night. It is a minor code problem, but Rich Harvey let me know that the minor fix we are waiting on did not work as he had expected, so it will take him a few additional days to sort the problem out and find a solution.I am currently consulting with the PMDG team and Rich to determine if we should move forward with the release BEFORE or AFTER Rich is able to secure a solution. The fix for this minor problem will not involve any code changes to the 757, so we are not concerned about a patch problem- but we ARE concerned with the perception of having released a sub-standard product because it is a visual problem.I am leaning toward waiting, which I know disappoints those of you who are eager to fly the airplane during the coming weekend.I'll be chatting with Rich and the PMDG team later today- and we'll keep you posted....I apologize for the hold-up...but sometimes I get to make those kinds of tough decisions.Robert S. haha - yeah, a 757 for Fly II.  That simulator never really went too far, although I'm pretty sure I had it at one point.  That and Flight Unlimited...

They also had a 777 for Fly II, too:

PMDGs products for Fly! and Fly!II were very sophistocated for their day, and established the reputation for quality that PMDG is famous for today.  Even in the above quoted message, you can see that Rob had the same attitude toward releasing an unperfected product that he does today.  These add-ons were far ahead of anything available for MSFS at the time, and more than a few simmers, including myself, converted to FlY!/Fly!II specifically because of the level of detail in PMDG's products. Even though Fly! itself was not much to look at, the PMDG 767, 777, and 757 were all fantastic products.

Some folks don't realize that the computer does remember everything you input, both from the keyboard and mouse. And it will execute them all when it's time! So, as Tom says, patience, Grasshopper.

I actually bought PMDG 757 for Fly ... it was quite nice although I rarely used it due to the frame rate being awful (don't think I had a top-notch system back then).

Too bad about Rich Harvey, would have been great to see what Fly would have become.

I had both Fly 1 and 2,with the PMDG aircraft,That was a long time ago.

I honestly wouldn't be against a PMDG 757.  There are flyable ones out there, but not PMDG quality.

Fly and Fly 2 were great sims for the time. This is where I started buying PMDG creations. Man, what a great combination.

You got that right.  I was really excited to have a nice sim like that.  Unfortunate what happened with it...

Tom: I did not think it posted at all until I came to the forum today. When I tried to post the site came up and said it could not do anything due to maintenance or capacity issues. I was going to try again today. You may want to look into this.

The error is usually "Service Unavailable."  I agree he should look into it, but in any case, the message doesn't say "did not post."  As far as I know, this error only pops up when you try to start a new thread.

I went to place an order for a new bike jersey the other week and, after clicking "purchase," the page timed out.  Afterwards, I checked PayPal to ensure a transaction didn't post before I went to try again.  That's a key point.

...otherwise, I would've been an extra $150ish in the hole until it got re-credited to my account.

I have never seen a "Did not post" message. I see what you mean about waiting to see but it looked obvious to me that the site did not accept the post. I will keep this in mind in the future.

Thanks, Ron Fields

Ron, on occasion, when the earth and the moon are in the wrong alignment, the system loads up and will spit out a 503 error (time out) or appear to just freeze. When you see that error, simply hit F5 (refresh) and see if your message posted. You don't have to hit the submit key six times.
