.... So if it hadn't been mentioned, the multiplayer would have been up for more than a month (maybe more!), considering the fact that Microsoft no longer cares about it's Flight Simulators!

Now that he knows ... it might be taken down!  :(

I don't think that's quite how it works. Most likely when the community manager was told that the Flight servers would be shut down, they assumed that multiplayer was hosted on those servers. What is probably the case, is that multiplayer is hosted on one of the main LIVE servers, which (obviously) is and will remain up.

I think a more mature way to put that is, such a product line is too small to be profitable for such a large company. They want to assign their employees to larger projects that will guarantee them large amounts of money. That's how business works.

If shutting down multiplayer is any more complicated than pressing a button, it might not ever get shut down. The man-hours needed to root the problem and uncover the solution can't be justified. Time is money, and Microsoft probably won't spend a dime more on Flight. I don't think bandwidth recovery would be worth it either.

Well it sure seems to dead right now. Some one must have got off their duff, walked into the back room and pulled the plug.

Yup, some people are just floating around and some are flying and talking. I did find a couple downed war birds to keep things interesting. All and all seems to be working at the moment.
