Era Alaska service continues ... After an overnight stay the weather improved, and I'm flying from Holy Cross to Port Lions on Kodiak Island.

 

 

Start on rwy 19

Even more snow - actually: ice. It is the Hallo glacier. This is really its name because the nearby bay is called ... Hallo Bay

How should I land there??? No straight approach, short runway ...

 

 

 

But with the appropriate routine no big problem. Anyway ... In Alaska you don't need big terminal buildings for passenger handling, a container is sufficient.

 

 

To the left the landing stage for boats and above the little village Port Lions. I have no idea why they called it Port Lions - in Alaska? Population is 256 (census 2000).

It also looks like nearby Canada has been getting large amounts of data imported into OSM recently, so shortly we should be able to generate nice and accurate scenery for it (As well as HD Mesh v3, *drool*)

Wow, are you using any other add on scenery ? that boat rocks. I am getting myself a faster laptop.

 

Get the Twin Otter and use the float plane.

I have stuff from .org. But how did you get that boat ? 

With the Larsen Bay scenery. For this scenery I recommend to turn "runway follows contours" off.

BTW - for bush pilots I found a very interesting book: Seaplanes along the Inside Passage. A long time bush pilot from Alaska writes very enthralling about his experience with passangers and the nature (especially the weather).
