Need a little jetplane for regional flights

Featured Replies

Which Eclipse? I released one in collaboration with Dave Eckert, and Fuel Labs released one. They both have their strengths, but the project I did w/Dave isn't high fidelity--and neither is Fuel Lab's Eclipse. I have both, but still fall back on the Eaglesoft projects for more immersion.BTW, I downloaded the Lear 25 I mentioned yesterday, and it is very well done--it has a very nice VC. I think it may serve the thread author's purpose rather well.-John

For payware, definitely Eaglesoft's Citation X. Excellent model and panel.Cheers

Hi Lars,The Falcon 50 by Yannick Lavigne, Fred Banting, and Rob Young was designed for FS2000 and updated for FS2002, but it flies great in FS2004, and it's free. You wanted "high-fidelity but not too difficult to fly", and this airplane fits that description. It's in the AVSIM library, "Falcon 50 CAEA":http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=13762"Falcon 50 CAEA Patch 2":http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=14395Ken

Thank's for all your answers. Right now I'm reading reviews and looking on downloads. I have been very glad for all your excellent advice. Thanks a lot...Lars

Fuel Labs' Eclipse is the one that I downloaded. I thought it was pretty cool, although I don't spend much time in business jets. I haven't tried the one you and Dave released.

As far as the jet, I really like the Eaglesoft Cessna Citation II. It's available from flight 1 software and is very well done in my opinion. For a turboprop my favortie is the Flight One Conquest II. I also bought the PMDG Beech 1900C. It is also realy good.Any of these would be good choices for short range options!Happy Simming!Scott :-)ATP/CFII/DA20 Type Rated - Instructor Pilot - USAFA (KAFF), Colorado Springs, CO & at KCOSAOPA #00956593, since 1987Gamming System Specs: (Built this one myself)AMD Athlon-64 3000+ Gigabyte K8NS nForce3-250 Chipset 8x AGP Main Board 1GB DDR400 PC3200 Memory 160GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive 16x DVD-ROM Audigy 2ZS Gammer Sound Card5.1 Channel Surround Sound Speakers256MB GeForce-5700 8X AGP Video Dual 17" LCD and CRT monitorsCotytech Gaming CaseCH Products Yoke, Rudder Pedals, Throttle QuadrantSaitek Cyborg Gold Joystic for Helo's & Stick equipped aircrafteDimensional AudioFX force feedback vibration headsets & micWindows XP Pro SP2Home Network for using the Instructor StationFS9COF Sliders maxed with other settings at their best quality positions

> (1)>On the screenshot from Eaglesoft's Citation models the panel's>and gauges seems a little difficult to read. They dont look>shar and clear. Is this just bad screenshots or is the 2D/VC>panels in the Citation models like that?? >> (2)>Is the Eaglesoft's Citation X not a long distance buisiness>jet not suitable for short distances??I run my screen at 1280 x 1024 and I find the gauges to be very easy to read. I understand that Eaglesoft designs for 1280x960 resolution, so as long as you are running in high resolution you shouldn't have a problem. The CX is definitely a fine aircraft, and I also have it in my virtual hanger. You are correct that it may not be the choice for a small regional jet; the CX wing is designed for high speed cruising efficiency and that hurts its takeoff performance a bit. You'll need 5000+ ft of runway to get it off the ground at max weight, and ground roll after landing could be as high as 3400ft. I primarily use my CX for trans-continental and trans-atlantic flights; mach .91 @50,000ft is a lot of fun.I too am looking for a "middle ground" plane at the moment to fill the gap between my Beech A36 and the Citation X. I've been eyeing the CJ1 to fill that role; it's a newer release from Eaglesoft so I believe it has more eye candy. The specs on Cessna's site put it at about 3200ft for take-off and just under that for landing, so it opens up more small regional airport possibilities. The cruise speed is quoted at 389kts@31,000, and it has a range of about 1200 miles. This may be closer to what you are looking for?Eric

Thank's Eric,In fact I just purchased the Cessna Citation X, and I have no trouble reading the gauges with 1280 x 1024 on my LCD 17" monitor. But you're right, The CX is not a small regional jet. But in spite of the usual "beginner's trouble" and the fact that Eaglesoft don't reach PMDG 737NG in fidelity concerning the simulation of the technical equipment of the aircraft, I find the CX OK. I'll see if I can find some reviews on the CJ1.BRLars

Thanks for the kind words on our Corporate Jets guys:-)Just one small correction...Eaglesoft Development Group uses the Flight One wrapper system but our Jets are not available from Flight One. You may find them on our site instead at www.eaglesoftdg.com :-)

Hmmm....I believe a jet was the requested item, no?I'm highly enamored of the Eaglesoft Premier 1. The RW aircraft is designed for single pilot so it's easy to manage, and Eaglesoft's example cruises at .79 (465 KTAS) with outstanding fuel efficiency (760 lb/hr at FL410), offers a lovely VC with more than acceptable cabin, large tinted cabin windows which offer really nice views in the cabin, a glass panel with some truly nice features, decent and honest handling (I had to soften roll response, it was a bit of a handful in AS2004 turbulence), readable and useable instruments in VC (from which I fly exclusively), dynamic shine for some really nice external views, nice interior texturing, I could go on and on. Does not have the automatic lift dump system, but you can simulate it if you put the spoilerons on an easily reachable key (I use Shift-S) that you hit at touchdown. With this arrangement it handles 3200' strips with ease. I have found it's combination of speed, efficiency, and small-airport facility make it the perfect traveling companion for me, even on shorter trips (<100nm) and -- it comes with a free Beechjet (which I've never even flown)! No screenshots at this PC but if there's a clamor, I've got some. The ones on Eaglesoft's site don't do it justice.

According to reviews I have been reading The Eaglesoft Beechjet 400A/Premier 1 package does not include any documentation at all. That's one thing I would miss a lot. Have you found some info somewhere else?BRLars

I guess that everyone has an opion.. I just purchased this aircraft because of the GREAT job they did on the B737-400 series, but I was really DISAPPOINTED with the B-1900C, 1st because some of their gauges looked like they were "painted" with a bad paint brush, and never could figgure uot how to set the altimeter to the desired flight level. Yes, the price was cheap, but I just did not like the quality of the product, so I uninstalled it.( I was looking for a GOOD prop twin engine AC.) I found it in the Cheyenne 400 LS by FSD International. It's a really quality product. Jerrycwo4
