Congrats to you and your son!

I know that is quite an accomplishment.

I did 11 years in the Navy, and bootcamp is tough in all the services (mentally more than anything else for a kid just out of HS), and getting though it changes you for life.

I wish him well in his career, and encourage him to stay in when it gets rough, he won't regret it if he's committed to that way of life.

Congratulations from South Africa.

It is such a pity & so sad that our youth (& elders) do not have the kind of pride & patriotism that you guys have.

Congrats to your son and to you for raising such a great young man!

Though I'm former Navy myself, I have tremendous respect for the Marines.

Fr. Bill... DMZ by chance?

I was stationed at Camp Hovey, an overflow from Camp Casey. I was a 31E20 (Field

Radio Repair). My team-mates and I spent one week every month traversing our arc of the DMZ doing in-field repairs if possible, and hot swaps if advanced repairs were needed.

We seemed to be handy targets for sniper practice from the other side, since they knew we were forbidden to carry firearms with us and couldn't shoot back... :unknw:
