May 3, 200521 yr Trident 3 FREEWARE (note FREEWARE)Thank you David Maltby for the time and effort you must have put in to producing one of the BEST pieces of freeware FS aircraft I have seen so far.Photoreal 2D PanelExcellent clear fully clickable VC (which doesnt batter my framerates)Faultless Flight Dynamics (within the confines of MSFS)Brilliant realistic soundsTook it for a "quick" flight from Manston to Heathrow. The immersion is complete. I could even smell the exhaust smoke from the engines;)(Regresses back to 1975!)RegardsAdamWin XP - ARIA 3200PCPrescott 3.20 GHz - 2GB RAMAsus ATi Radeon X800 Pro TD 256MB19" CRT 1600x1200 @ 100hzAudiophile 24/96 Audio
May 3, 200521 yr Just took a spend with Trident 3. Great plane in every aspect. Agree with Adam in every area he mentioned and to boot good fps from my P4 2.4GHZ, 512mb Ram.David, thanks for an excellent addition to FS - 5 star freeware IMHO. May 3, 200521 yr My hat's off to David too. This is one GREAT plane. I like his icons to raise and lower the eyepoint in the main cockpit and the VC icons to move around in the VC panel. I already have used these, for my own use, in other aircraft. THANKS DAVID!!!!! Regards, Bob.
May 3, 200521 yr Dear Mr. David Maltby, havent heard about you untill now. You must have arrived from another planet.THIS IS FUNTHIS IS BRILLANTTook me one Hour to get prepared, but thanks to your wonderfull-Kneeboard-Checklists it is a charm!SOUND: very niceI made a flight from KSEA to KSFO (and it shouldn
May 4, 200521 yr Yes it's am amazing piece of work.I took this picture of the aircraft on climbout from Dublin yesterday http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...topic_id=198056CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair1.gif
May 4, 200521 yr Great pic Tim. Nice to see you using the original BEA livery.Going to take the "British" version (how pretentious!) for a flight tonight from Heathrow to Nice to enjoy the autoland facility again. Haven't seen such an effective autoland system on any other freeware aircraft. The only payware one that compares is the PMDG 737NG and even that refuses to kick up the spoilers occasionally on my system.Great sounds on this aircraft as well. Am very glad they dont fly into Heathrow anymore however (I am underneath the 27R approach at 8 DME!).RegardsAdam (aka SQUAWKIDENT but can't remember my login for that at the office..)
May 4, 200521 yr Great package David, and to all who helped out with it. It is top notch... Right along with the rest of your offerings, VC-10, BAC 1-11, etc...:-outtahttp://publish.hometown.aol.com/p3superb/i...s/sign_name.jpgThere is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".- unknown"My daddy gives me up, to fight for you"- a US Military Members Child
May 4, 200521 yr Couldn`t agree more. Thanks for a wonderful and complete freeware package.I feel this could be the next YS-11 - a complete package, some new features (esp in the VC in the case of the Trident), excellent FDE and completely free. The sort of package that makes people refuse to buy FS2006 until the patch is out..Now I`m off to breach some noise quotas! CheersLungs
May 4, 200521 yr I agree, this is an incredible piece of work!ps.r u into music production?:)Im asking because of that Audiophile 24/96 you got.
May 4, 200521 yr HiYes a fabulous addition to my FS! Loving it loads :)Although I have one small problem - whether in the 2D, VC or spot view - when using the rudder control on the ground to maneouvre the aircraft - the flightsim stutters for some reason. Although at all other times it is as smooth as ever! Very strange - never seen this problem before....
May 4, 200521 yr After the VC-10 an other masterwork.Excellent VC with some new practical features.Didn't know that the Trident had autothrottle. There is also an easy to use autoland.Html documentation consultable from the cockpit.Good framerates on my P4 2.4 MHz.Guy
May 5, 200521 yr Fantastic aircraft. I just wish all developers (payware and freeware) would copy the intelligent VC that is included with this plane. What a concept, little shortcut keys that move the VC to show specific panels. And the interactive checklist is also excellent. Mark. Mark CYYZ
May 6, 200521 yr This has got to be one of the best Freeware additions to FS! I was totally immersed in the tutorials and 4 hours went by in a flash as I did them over and over to get the hang of them. The tutorials really helped with the feeling of flying this aircraft. How on earth does Dave Maltby produce such an aircraft as freeware? Fantastic - just added the VC 10 and BAC 1-11 to my hangar. This fleet will keep me going for weeks. The Level D 767 and PMDG aircraft will have to take a back seat for a few weeks I guess while I get down to using the retro autopilots and old systems. What great additions. I'm just surprised that this thread is so short!KFD
May 7, 200521 yr Like everyone has said "a fantastic piece of work"!!! Flys well.. Haven't found any bad habits... Don't quite understand the AP yet but with all the docs I'm sure everything is covered, It's just a lot of reading to do... I like a plane with good documentation... Great Job... Can't say enough about it!!!!Ron
