December 21, 201411 yr Good evening all, I am not a real world pilot, so i do not know if this is realistic, but it seems to me that whenever i fly a plane in FSX, even when there is turbulence, it seems to fly super smooth, it does not feel like flying in real weather, more like flying on a "railway" I have FS GLobal Real time Weather and the registered FSUIPC4, are there maybe recommended settings for these add ons to get a more realistic flying experience?
December 21, 201411 yr That's just fsx, there's no add on I'm aware of that removes the "on rails" sensation and no program that simulates turbulence or crosswinds/gusts particularly well. James Bennett
December 21, 201411 yr Active Sky Next does, with the new SP1. Its fantastic. - Paul Elliott http://www.avsim.com/topic/450607-amy-johnson-london-to-australia-attempt/
December 21, 201411 yr Commercial Member FSGRW does it, Opus does it, ASN does it. Any of these apps generate pretty convincing turbulence effect on plane, kicking it around, winshear, chops, etc. So I strongly believe it's something on your end. Probably FSUIPC weather settings must be deactivated, all of them. No "on rails" effect at all. December 21, 201411 yr As far as I know ASN does. So does REX OD's... sort of. And don't forget that Ezdok also adds more head shaking effects to add to the immersion. Philip LaBianca _____________________ "I think, therefore I am."
December 22, 201411 yr Make sure "disable turbulence and thermal effects on aircraft" is unticked. That might help the issue. I use ASN and the on-rails feeling is non-existent here, the skies feel very much alive and often threatening. Ethan Edelson
December 22, 201411 yr Commercial Member Yeah, ditto that regarding ActiveSkyNext. The Microsoft Weather Servers for FSX went offline sometime ago, so you aren't getting any weather input unless you're using some type of third party program to inject weather. I've used just about every weather engine for FSX that's come out during the past 8 years, and IMHO nothing comes close to what I experience with ActiveSkyNext. Of course it all has to do with what settings one uses, and with each weather engine I labored to ensure the settings provided me with an experience as realistic as possible. With ActiveSkyNext, that would be: Options: General options]FSVersion=FSXAutomaticDownloadInterval=5LogFilesNumber=5VATSIMDownloads=1PreventDownloadsOnApproach=0[Audio options]ApplicationSounds=0SelectedAudioVolume=50EnabledVoiceSets=Canada-1,Germany-1,Sweden-East-1,USA-East-1,USA-Mid-1,USA-West-1[Wind options (and effects)]MaximumWindShearPercent=100MaximumDowndraftRate=800MaximumUpdraftThermalRate=800MaximumSurfaceWindSpeed=100MinimumWindTurbulencePercent=0MaximumWindTurbulencePercent=100DisableWindsAloft=0InterLayerInterpolation=1WakeTurbulenceStrength=50[Cloud options]MaximumCloudTurbulencePercent=100MaximumCloudIcingPercent=100PreventTstormsWithCB=0 AND I have "Use Realism Mode Options" selected frm the The settings don't go over board, but instead have provided me what what I consider to be realistic under all weather conditions. I sincerely hope this has been of help to you. Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
December 22, 201411 yr Author Thank you all..I do have FS Global Weather, might try some other options with the program, I found a video on YouTube from someone who changed some lines in the config, maybe i`ll try that too... Thanks..

December 22, 201411 yr Commercial Member No, all values on default. I think you can change in cfg only the strength of effects, not sure. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
December 22, 201411 yr I agree with all the above programs that produce turbulence. But, keep in mind that EzDok and using your VC instead of 2D panel are surely required for the full effect. Stan
