A2A C182 and P3D - Spectacular

Featured Replies

I just took the A2A C182 for a few patterns around KSNA and I must say that this add on is great in FSX, but it's spectacular in P3D.  The shadows and reflections on the interior of the aircraft, the wind buffeting as you fly an approach.  You can almost feel the warmth as you turn into the sun.  This is just a great aircraft in a great sim.  I can't wait to try the new Turbine Duke in P3D.

Hi jb I purchased this p3d Xmas and im impressed with the game.Especially the eye candy. But I sometimes think I've purchased a bit of white elephant. In as much as although its Fsx improved I thought there may have been a Cessna 172 at least or even a Boeing 737, but nothing! And I've been trying to find out how I can install a/c into the game but I'm told you have to be carefull in case you step on someone's toes and god forbid infringe copyright!! And told to make sure you have authorisation to install and use the software model.

For gods sake I only want to pass a few hours away pretending to be an airline pilot. Where's the harm in that. I can't believe that a "decent" flight sim doesn't have the bread and butter(Cessna/Boeing a/c) installed.

So after all that I'm still trying to find out how you install a/c into P3d.

And any help would be gratefully appreciated. The A2A Cessna is impressive and I would willingly purchase it if I knew how to install it.

Thanks for reading my rant!!

You select Prepar3d V2 in a capable installer.

but it's spectacular in P3D

A2A have amazing stuff, they are a complete and finished product.

if I knew how to install it.

A2A make it very easy to install planes. As David said point installer to V2.

Also join the A2A forums, loads of great info over there.

Thanks for the quick reply poppet. Been used to FSX and  X Plane 10 which is amazing. Like everything if its configured properly. But well impressed with P3D.

Think i'll do as you recommend and subscribe to A2A forums.

Thanks again Elaine, nice meeting you too.

Pete,

It's very easy to install aircraft into P3D. Like David pointed out above, if the plane has a P3Dv2 installer just use it. Otherwise, if the plane was originally released for FSX or P3dv1, and the producer/developer doesn't mind you using it in P3Dv2 (due to licensing or some other reason), just point the installer to the P3Dv2 installation.

Very few aircraft that were produced for FSX/P3Dv1 have problems in P3Dv2. If you ever need some assurance that something will work or not, or is allowed or not, just ask in the Prepar3d forum here at AVSIM or any other well-traveled FS Forum.

Welcome to the party!

I have been able to install A2A, PMDG, Aerosoft and the Turbine Duke with no problem, on an experimental basis, of course.

Agree completely, C182 is flawless and gorgeous.  ALSO cannot wait for Turbine Duke v2!  Zooming plane ready to receive my GTN 750 :)

I love the GTN750 so much I actually bought it for FSX and P3D

Lack of a 2D panel ruined it for me.  I've never liked, nor used, the "virtual cockpits" in FSX or P3D.  They're not realistic, and things are so far away when you can see the whole thing everything's too small to be usable.  Switching views around to reach different things on a panel is a non-starter for me.  You don't do that in a real airplane.  A 2D panel in the sim solves that problem.

Perhaps you should invest in TrackIR 5 http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/products/trackir5/

I won't buy a plane, if it doesn't have a 3D panel. It's always a compromise. I once put a laptop on the glare shield of a plane I owned, and figured it would take at least six monitors to make the forward view realistic. It's just not going to happen for me. I use a Saitek X-52 joystick setup, and program  many knobs and switches to the X-52. That way, I'm not moving the mouse all over, or switching views to make things work.

I also prefer the viewpoint of the 3D panel pulled back some. It's still a compromise, but I like the added look of peripheral vision.  I just don't like 2D's at all, unless it's a larger commercial jet type cockpit. Even at that, I still want the 3D.  I started pasting 2D panels on early virtual cockpits back in the FS98 era. A long time ago.

Indeed a wonderful combo. I find myself going back to the Cherokee more often though  ^_^

I won't buy a plane, if it doesn't have a 3D panel.... but I like the added look of peripheral vision.  I just don't like 2D's at all.

Well, I've been a licensed pilot over 40 years, owned aircraft and rented many others.  What people "like" is subjective, but I've "been there, done that", and the "3D panels" in these sims isn't anywhere near realistic.  A 2D panel is the nearest thing to "realistic", given the limitations of PC sims.  I don't care if people disagree; I know what the "real deal" looks like, and "virtual cockpits" don't come close.

And, for the edification of "dgraham1284", I OWN trackir 5.  It does what it claims, but that system obviates peripheral vision, as in real life.  With trackir, you see where you look, but you don't see peripherally.  I happen to be using a 3-monitor setup, 3 X Acer XB280HK, on 3 X Nvidia 780 ti SLI, with cockpit side window views on the two side monitors.  So I have REAL peripheral vision.

The issue of what consitutes a realistic visual experience isn't something I wonder about; I've done it for over 2,000 hours logged in real aircraft.  I don't need any coaching about how to make it "real" in a PC sim.  Thanks for your suggestion, nevertheless.
