January 31, 201511 yr Hi guys, As part of my PC12 mods I've also decided to try my hand at a repaint. Here's a very early version WIP pic so far: 10 points to anyone who can guess which livery this is based on It'll be released when it's ready. Shuai Li
January 31, 201511 yr Wow, excellent job! It's so difficult trying to figure out Carenado's texture mapping I've all but given up. Nice job using paths to make those curves. I wanted to attempt this one but quickly realized I didn't have the talent to pull it off...
February 1, 201511 yr Author Hi Bob, Yes it's a real hassle to paint the Carenados. It takes an extreme amount of time to line things up just to get some basic shapes right. Progress is slow but positive: Shuai Li
February 1, 201511 yr Finnish Air Force PC-12 only has a light metallic colors and some letters. Can someone do it?
February 1, 201511 yr Author That looks easy enough to do. I'll knock it up in the next couple of days. Shuai Li
February 2, 201511 yr This german one would also be real nice: D-FUDA: http://www.flugzeugbilder.de/show.php?id=1230726 Cheers, Mark
February 2, 201511 yr Author Getting close, just the red stripe on the tail to complete, plus the registration and misc painting. Shuai Li
February 2, 201511 yr Please put an "N" number on it....... I am dying for a new paint for this bird. Thanks
February 3, 201511 yr Author I'll put out maybe one or two registration versions of it. Don't worry, the release will be US registered If people like the paint scheme and think it's worthwhile for me to do, I might paint a couple more when I have time. Next will be 777200LRF's request, as it looks pretty easy to do... I hope. Shuai Li
February 3, 201511 yr Once I opened up the TBM and Seneca files, I sent in my resignation soon there after. I wonder if they dislike re-paints now, and are purposely "puzzling" their livery models to discourage it.
February 3, 201511 yr Author You know, I never thought of that! It does look like the dreamliner! I think I should be able to wrap this up by the weekend. Metallic paint test: Shuai Li
February 4, 201511 yr Metallic paint test: One technique I developed; Once all the paint is down, I then add the metallic flake over the last coat (airbrush sparse. I used gold flake for the T-malibu). I copied just that layer, and turned it negative. Then added that negative layer to alpha channel. FSX "chromes" the black negative in the alpha, and wha-la.. Deep looking metallic.
February 4, 201511 yr Author I'll give that a try. I'm still trying to work out how to edit the alpha layer in GIMP Shuai Li
