New PC12 repaint WIP

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

As part of my PC12 mods I've also decided to try my hand at a repaint.

Here's a very early version WIP pic so far:

10 points to anyone who can guess which livery this is based on :)

It'll be released when it's ready.

Wow, excellent job! It's so difficult trying to figure out Carenado's texture mapping I've all but given up. Nice job using paths to make those curves. I wanted to attempt this one but quickly realized I didn't have the talent to pull it off...

Hi Bob,

Yes it's a real hassle to paint the Carenados. It takes an extreme amount of time to line things up just to get some basic shapes right.

Progress is slow but positive:

Getting close, just the red stripe on the tail to complete, plus the registration and misc painting.

Please put an "N" number on it....... I am dying for a new paint for this bird.

Thanks

I'll put out maybe one or two registration versions of it. Don't worry, the release will be US registered :)

If people like the paint scheme and think it's worthwhile for me to do, I might paint a couple more when I have time.

Next will be 777200LRF's request, as it looks pretty easy to do... I hope.

Once I opened up the TBM and Seneca files, I sent in my resignation soon there after. I wonder if they dislike re-paints now, and are purposely "puzzling" their livery models to discourage it.

You know, I never thought of that! It does look like the dreamliner!

I think I should be able to wrap this up by the weekend. Metallic paint test:

Metallic paint test:

One technique I developed; Once all the paint is down, I then add the metallic flake over the last coat (airbrush sparse. I used gold flake for the T-malibu). I copied just that layer, and turned it negative. Then added that negative layer to alpha channel. FSX "chromes" the black negative in the alpha, and wha-la.. Deep looking metallic.
