Thanks for staying on top of the Canada thing.

My pleasure Graham - keep you posted - new install today and not wanting to muss it up

OK...just a newbie pre-sales question. I'll state my assumptions. Please feel free to straighten me out where necessary:

1-does not replace Orbx Global textures?

2-replaces Vector?

3-replaces OpenLC?

4-can be used with Orbx full fat regions?

5-if regions OK...can be used with Orbx regional airports?

6-can be used with Orbx global airports?

7-can be used with other 3rd party scenery?

8-will not bleed into scenery placed above it in scenery.cfg hierarchy?

Thanks again.

Have to revisit this topic again as I'm having problems with configuring night lighting.

1. I have UTX EU 2.1 installed over FTX Global (I don't have Vector) with higher priorities.

2. 3D Airports have highest priority.

3. When I run UTX Light Utility it appears that it does not change anything.

3. Autogen in P3D is set to Normal

What am I doing wrong.

Thanks

Dmitriy

PS. VAS usage is pretty much OK so far,

Honestly the developer Chris is aces in my book but man I tried a demo and it brought my system to its knees - titan on board so with that said others have had luck with it - just not for me

Night Environment is by far the best and most realistic Night Environment.

I use it on my 3 monitor view config.

- LOD at 3.5 for nightflying

- autogen to sparse or off

- mesh at 10m

- no car traffic

- no shadows

- clouds at 60 mls

- texture at 1024 max

- ai traffic less or off

Have you disabled ORBX lights in the ORBX central configurator?

I run both ORBX Global and UTX v2 USA. All changes I make in UTX lighting appears and I have NO conflict issues.

I only use a single monitor but I can run all my desired settings > LOD 6.5, autogen dense, car traffic (19%), others (medium to max) . The UTX/USA v2 lighting is the BEST I've seen in my 13 years of flight simming .

Thanks Vincent

Actually, I did not disable ORBX global lights, but I even if I have done so, wouldn't it disable night lighting in non-UTX areas such as Asia/Latin America?

Yes, what you say should be exactly correct. I guess you would just open ORBX Central and activate their lighting for those desired flight(s).

What are you folks using for a Mesh for UTX v2.x series?

I've unfortunately had to uninstall Vector and OpenLC due to performance issues with v2.5 that I wasn't able to resolve any other way than removing the products ... not been able to work out if this is an Orbx issue or an LM issue (or maybe both).

I agree it's nice to see the native P3D night lighting reach far out into the distance ... so I'm assuming UTX v2.x series does not prevent native P3D night lights from showing up and will be visible into the far distance?

I do have both UTX products, just not installed yet.

Cheers, Rob.

I am using the new freemesh with UTX USA v2.1.  I have to say, it is amazing.  UTX has it's own lighting system that is fully configurable. All road types with a lot of light variations. 4d, 3d, 2d, all with ground spots etc. Along side FTX Global.

Rob - I use default P3D textures along with UTX 2.1.  The UTX lights just add the vector lighting to roads so you will still have the nice P3D night textures.  The UTX lights are not visible too far out but it's not a big issue for me.  I refused to reinstall FTX Global when I switched to P3D due to the unrealisticlly dark night textures and not seeing anything up at alttitude.

Got UTX US v2.1 and EU 2.0 Installed, but there seems to be a problem with the UTX Lights app:

Lights can't be set  and it appears to be picking up a GUID rather than "Light Slot 1" ...

I was following this thread and posted the same question: http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic52278_post327595.html#327595

Seems I'm not alone with this one ... looks like some conflict with Orbx products.  I've disabled the Vector lights in Orbx via FTX Central v2 ... but oddly I'm still seeing the Orbx lights and I'm not seeing any UTX lights.

Checked the Scenery library and all the UTX entries are above Orbx entries.  Anyone find a solution to this problem?

Cheers, Rob.

My solution was to uninstall UTX USA. It doesn't really provide much of any improvement over the ORBX suite, except that the vegetation LC data is of a more recent vintage.

Hmm, I beg to differ, the UTX lighting looks far better to me than Vector IMO.  I did the opposite and kept the ORBX suite away from my P3D installation (had it on FSX) and installed UTX 2.1 only.  P3D humming along along nicely now and looks 100x better at night than any ORBX combo I had.  Not to mention I had awful performance issues & stutters with Vector installed. I do somewhat miss the FTX Global textures for daytime but the night textures were weak.  To each their own though! ^_^
