Ultimate Terrain vs. ORBX products

I've now downloaded it ready to try and fit it in alongside / replacing Vector (?). I see there's a god discount for Version 1 owners.

  • I tried new installers for Global, Vector and OpenLC Europe last weekend. I saw no difference between older and newer versions (central Europe). I returned to combo FTX Global + UTX 2.1 - better visua

  • GEXP3D and UTX is the best combo in my opinion.  I have FTXG and Vector and also GEX and UTX.  In P3D I use UTX and FTXG, but when I goes back to FSX occasionally, I found the GEX texture to be better

  • Not a dumb question at all.  The ORBX regions include everything you mentioned plus mesh.  The regions will override base Global, Vector, etc....so there is no need to purchase them if you only use th

Never happen to me, and I use UTX with both FSX-SE and P3D. Vector on the other hand consume much more memory

Same here, no OOMs in P3D. I've seen posts showing memory consumption comparison between UT and Vector - Vector uses more. I was experiencing stuttering in P3D on the odd occasion - after many hours of trial and error found that it was Vector.... as such I've moved away from Vector - at least in Europe and USA where I'm now using UT. Very pleased with it. I've also disabled FTX EU regions. Still using FTX Global textures and OpenLC EU (OpenLC outside of UT coverage).

how about this scenery library order

Looks good - exactly how I had it (as per UT documentation 'sandwich method'), however I've now moved OpenLC below UT Veg entry as OpenLC was causing some very obvious texture anomalies (parking lots in the middle of the English countryside).

Correct, and i have seen huge conflicts around Copenhagen and Kastrup airport with both activated.

Thats why i stick with UTX2,1 roads and OpenLC EU for the rest

Michael,

How is your scenery layered? If you use UTX roads and Open LC, is LC above UTX? Also, if you are only using UTX roads, is all the other vector data default? Just curious. I have UTX and open LC. Want to get the best mix.

Thanks

Yes OpenLC is above UTX (but not the lights ) explained here)

First thing i do after installing FTX Global is installing UTX 2.1.

There has been som issues with the UTX light software not working correctly on particular my system if i installed it after other FTX products.

What i do next is having "UTX Autogen lights" above any FTX products and the rest belowe FTX products in scenery library.

In FTX Central 2 i set insertion point to "UTX Autogen Lights" . That way FTX products afterwards is installed belowe

The only UTX2.1 entrys enabled is "UTX Roads" in scenery library but all UTX2.1 is still in the library offcause and sits belowe FTX.

You also need to disable the functions in the UTX2.1 Configurator so you only have roads enabled.

Hope it makes sense
