Yeah....... there could have been a lot more thought and research put into that whole scenario.

Yea me too. My first thought was 'how is this guy a New Yorker'. The accent was like Hans and Franz going to pump...you up (from SNL)

He sure as heck isn't from Bronx or Yonkers! He actually sounds like a WWII German platoon sergeant...

The game was make in Germany, guess they couldn't hire voice actors haha

The first game had accents just as bad, to the point that several people, including at least one actual NYC train operator, came to the Aerosoft forum and offered to lend their voice talents to reduce the horror. Obviously those offers were never accepted.

Very much a shame.

One of my all time favourites...Anyone who ever took the Subways back in those days will remember how bad the intercoms used to be, they have now upgraded them so they are better:

That is strange because usually you cannot get SNL in New Zealand. Perhaps there is one specific for USA due to different ADSense contracts.

The skit was called Transit Workers and has Harvey Keitel mumbling into the intercom like they always talk like that in person.

I noticed TAFF commenting on how decrepit everything seemed, and he's right. Even when I was a kid, I knew that the trains and the entire subway were in sad, sad shape, as is the whole city of New York, really.

I've always thought it would be amazing to see what they might have been like when still fairly new.......

Perhaps better than placing the game in the 70s/80s they might have drummed up some attention by making a historical simulation.

I always felt placing them above ground led to the decline of some districts. No one with money wants to live next to an elevated subway so the property values went down. They also caused a bit more road congestion so that effected traffic and parking for local shops.

Today they have distinct character and most of those neighbourhoods have cleaned up, but still no one wants to live next to one. with one exception, cheaper rent.

be cool to see the old City Hall station in action, there are some hidden gems in New York

As a kid, standing in the Bronx (my mother loved shopping there) in the of shadow of the "L" I was always fascinated at how busy, bustling and colorful the shopping district was, at the same time as it practically screamed of seediness, crowding, and an indefinable aura of melancholy.

I would look up like any kid would, fascinated by the mechanical intricacy as the trains clattered loudly overhead, squealing and emitting the occasional explosion of sparks or a bright blue-white flash of electricity, and of course I wanted to drive one, even as I recognized that it was all dingy and worn and old.....

And kind of sad actually, that something so potentially wonderful was obviously not being taken better care of.

Kind of like I feel about the whole city, now!

Strangely enough, I still love those silly subways, though.
