May 11, 201511 yr Author Jfri, what is the problem you are having with the Saitek trim wheel? You ought to be able to assign it to the trim axis either in FSUIPC or FSX without having to resort to using any other type of input configuration utility. One thing I've noticed about it is that you have to roll the wheel several times after hitting FSUIPC 'rescan' in order to get it to show up. For the P51,C182,Spitfire (which I have tested so far) and using FSUIPC my trim settings change in abrupt steps while turning the Saitek wheel. I don't get the precise smooth control that I have by using the mouse in the VC. For the P51 and FSX this problem was solved by assigning the Saitek wheel in the aircraft input configurator. When assigning the Saitek wheel to elevator trim with the Spitfire input configurator I'm not able to control the trim at all with Saitek controller. With controllers enabled everything works as it should. But I need to use FSUIPC for asssigning axis since I use my controller axis different from plane to plane
May 11, 201511 yr An easy to way to verify the gear is down is to bring throttle to idle....there will be a loud BUZZ if the gear is not fully down, then do a quick check with the manual pump handle. Thanks for that - just the kind of tip I was looking for. That'll cover half the battle - the other half is making sure the gear is all the way up on takeoff (I've left it partly dangling in the past as a result of releasing the hydraulic pump button too early). I've got all the hydraulic buttons and levers attached to joystick and throttle switches, which helps. I guess it's mainly a matter of figuring out a rhythm. A week's solid practice ought to do it. I'll go tell my clients I'll be busy in meetings this week... B) 75% @777200LRF - Ron has either mistyped or is playing with your mind (I'm not giving odds which I think it is... May 11, 201511 yr Me mistype? Make him suffer...just a bit. As oi suspected... A week's solid practice ought to do it. LATER: Back from a tour around DC. Loved flying at 3,000 with the canopy open on a hot day. Really challenged on approach and landing - man, that's a hectic airplane. I know... practice, practice, practice....
