Hey Guys

I know this may sound like a broken record about oom.

I just did a flight from YSSY using flytampa a lot of settings ticked off to VHHH taxi2gate running an i7 3570k at 4.5ghz with a gtx titan

Mytraffic set at 20%

rex 4 clouds set 512 and 1024

orbx global/vector a lot of settings ticked off in vector

pmdg 777

P3D v2.5 settings normal

I land at VHHH as soon as vacate runway and taxi I get an OOM

I don't understand with my settings being that low I get an OOM

This is a complete joke as to why LM would continue updating a 32bit program and dev like orbx etc etc  developing airports aircraft , and scenery that you cannot even fly to.

By pass all this crap and jump  64bit rather than wasting time and peoples money, should have been in place years ago instead of updates.?

I think its more of a money grab for devs.

Let people pay for lots of addons which cause OOM in a  crappy 32bit program and then charge people again when the 64bit program comes out all over again.

what a complete joke.

Anyways I am  no expert just throwing my 2 cents in.

Any advise or comments  are  appreciated

Thanks Mike

The only way I could land without OOM was to disable the outside model for the PMDG

I never fly outside anyways...its too windy out there messes me BryllCream hair-do

Sometimes I still get the occasional OOM, but 75% less often (guesstimate)

Hi peppy

lol

Thanks for the info I have not yet tried that.

Can you please inform me on how to disable external model?

thanks

Go yonder into the model folder of your desire and henceforth open the secret file suffixed with cfg and gently lay two ribbons on the grave as this:

[models]
//normal=PMDG_777_300ER.MDL
interior=PMDG_777_VC_300er

Oh I almost forgot the most important. You must play a copy of Led Zeppelins song " What Is And Should Never Be "  whilst performing the rituals, else the exterior model will drag along for a long long lonely time.

Seriously, switching off good eye candy and turning the 777 into a convertible is the answer? maybe if your using the office lap top but You have a TITAN!!

I may get flamed but it needs to be said..Give FSX-SE a try if P3D is not working for you

Hey Mike,

I Assume You are using a 64bit Operating System - Not wanting to Don My Fame Suit - However - Let me suggest the 64bit Flight Sim - Lots of Free Ware and Lots of Payware and No OOMs - Nice Side - they just upgraded their

Terrain - for free ! - Having tried it for a couple of weeks - I find it a very credible Program !- I'm not going to change over - but will definitely check out upcoming versions !- As I wait for P3d 64bit !

Just stay in the cockpit where you belong and you will get used to it. Actually adds to the realism

Whilst that option would appeal to the 1% (thats you :P ) There is no way that the rest of us would fork out $100 for a plane without an exterior model. How would you see the little fellas in GSX?..

I wish i was the 1 % they are said to be wealthy

I just use FSUIPC AutoSave and restart the entire sim at TOD.

Actually that too is my penultimate backup, for the 25% of the time while getting within 2 nm of the airport (nm = nautical miles, not nanometers). Or simply wait for an OOM as I have the save set to 160 seconds, always the same name of the situation to load on opening.

And with P3D, and PMDG, all systems are well reloaded.

I dont do TOD because I use an add-on ATC that does not reload

I see, what ATC addon are you using? Ever try VATSIM?

Pro-ATC/X  and somtimes Pilot2ATC

VATSIM... you cannot go have diner and put it all on pause...

Rob gave a very good alternative to me .

You could try reducing your TML=1024 from for instance 1024 to 512 inside P3D just prior (20nm) from your destination airport.

That actually frees up 200-250mb of VAS on my system.

Very very Handy on these longhauls

Global Vector+PMDG 777=not good, maybe? When I read OOM topics the two most common things mentioned are always the PMDG 777 and FTX Global Vector. Both are VAS hogs and there is little one can do except "disabling" one of them or both, lol!
