Which PMDG aircaraft are now supported? (FSX SE)

Featured Replies

I've been dark for about a couple of months as I have been busy, which ones actually works in SE?

Hi Patrick, the Product Descriptions at their web site were updated for the ones that have new installers for Steam.

This includes the 777 and 737 NGX to date.

Also Prepare3D although it is a separate product and license.

Ok, last I had heard they had to redo stuff, and wasn't sure what was fixed, thanks! Will any of the others work even if they're not supported?

Look in the forums for the MD-11, 747X, and JS41. The answers are in those forums.

Several hours after I made the post last night I decided to edit the post but it was too late. The edit feature had expired. This is what I was going to add. In each forum use the search function with a keyword of "FS-SE", "FS-Steam Edition". You also might try it with out the dash.

Although the J41 isn't supported yet, when I installed it into FSX-SE the Operations Center identified it as the FSX:SE version (the FSX version is greyed out in the menu as I only have FSX-SE installed). So that suggests full support is planned at least.

The Jetstream works perfectly well for me in Steam by the way,

Just some additional suggestions.  When reading posts about whether a given addon works, it's important to be aware of whether the poster has a dual FSX:MS and FSX:SE installation or just a stand alone FSX:SE installation.  It is more likely that an addon will work w/ the stand alone installation.  This is because FSX:SE changes some important installation folder names if it detects that FSX:MS is already present.  An installer that was not created to work with FSX:SE will not find these folders.  Instead it will install important component files in the original FSX:MS folders.  There are work-arounds for this that may or may not work in any given situation.

On  the other hand, with a stand alone FSX:SE installation, you will probably need to install the three  "legacy" simconnect files.  The installers are located in three subfolders of:

... SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces

Go into each of the three subfolders and run "simconnect.msi".  Even with a dual install, if the addon doesn't work you can try this first, as it's easy to do and is very unlikely to harm your setup.

For the record, we cannot offer support for the aircraft installed in FSX:SE without FSX:SE installers.

Thanks, so I noticed in the Operations Center, that there is a section for "JS41, 777, and 737." Are these all 3 still supported?

Not sure you understood my earlier post...

If the installer doesn't offer to install the aircraft into FSX:SE, then we won't offer to support that use. It's not against the EULA (FSX and FSX:SE are covered under the same license from us).

So, currently, the only aircraft we support in FSX:SE are the 737 and 777.

The same is true for P3D.

FSX (regular), we still support all aircraft. Not sure why someone would think otherwise.

X-Plane we don't currently support, but obviously will when the DC-6 is released.

Ok, thank you for that clarification. So what you're saying is, I can install anything into FSX-SE that I want, you just don't offer support for it just yet if it's not the two you just mentioned. Are there plans to increase support for the others? I have just come off a very tiring work week, if I seem a bit off kilter that's why.

Correct. If the installer does not offer the option to install into FSX:SE, specifically, then we cannot offer support for it. In other words, you're welcome to use the JS41, MD-11 and 744 in FSX:SE, but if any issues arise from that use, we won't be able to offer support.

I'm not sure if/when older offerings will get another look, but that decision is for a later date.- right now we're concentrating on the DC-6 and 744v2.

It is interesting, I will say that all of these work (the 747-8 has issues) on this PC, but do not work on my other PC, I think it has something to do with there was a dual install at some point. The installers wouldn't even point to FSX-SE,  They do it perfectly fine here, maybe it's a clean install of Win 8.1 that does the trick? I just thought I'd pass that along if you do look at it in the future. Thanks for the clarification.

I was just about to post that supported and working are two different things.

Yes, to get a FSX-SE single installation to install like FSX you need to clean the registry of any references to FSX. It took me a few attempts to get that done, but it was worth it. A Windows reinstall would have done it more cleanly but I wasn't prepared to consider that.
