September 2, 201510 yr Fly further south and it will still be Summer. Come to Texas. The leaves change color here too. They go from green to brown. Usually about late November. I guess if you fly far enough south by the time you get to Chile its back to summer !! Why not just roll back your calendar in the sim to match the fall colours where you live ? Mark CYYZ
September 8, 201510 yr Just another question about Skylake....is anyone de-lidding ? October 14, 201510 yr Just curious, anyone uses binned Skylake (from places like Silicon Lottery) on their setup?
October 15, 201510 yr Not me, don't think we have a supplier like that in the UK. From what I've heard, the first Skylake batch was mediocre, 4.6 on average. Following batches are now better, up to 4.8 if you're lucky. In any case, nearly all chips reach 4.6 so if you are lucky and reach 4.8, big deal. 200Mhz amounts to bugger all in terms of frame rate. Not worth paying the extra for binned chips that aren't, in reality, going to provide you with an Earth shattering increase in performance. In short, no point in my view. Good idea for bragging rights only I'd say.
October 16, 201510 yr Upgraded recently from an original Titan with 3970X @4.7 combo to a Skylake and 680ti. A happy overclock seems to be around 4.7 for me. I lock frames to 30fps with the half refresh rate tweak so I've no idea how much better it would do but certainly in FSX SE I'm seeing no issues at places where before I might struggle a little. Orbx Southampton with people flow, max visual effects like 3D grass etc and FTX England at a LOD of 6.5 in the Q400 doesn't dent my 30fps. Very happy with the results so far. When it's matured a little I'll also give P3D V3 a go to see how I get on. Currently can't be bothered with the hassle of non compatibility. | Ben Weston www.airline2sim.com
