Hi guys,

Thinking about buying a 28 or 32 inch 4k monitor ,currently i have a MSI GTX 980 card with a normal 24 inch monitor , would this be enough or is it better to  get a second GTX 980 in sli with a 4 k monitor ,or is even a second  980 card not enough , it s for P3D v3

Regards

Hi Gerard,

I bought a GTX970 Strix 4GB card and a Phillips 4K 40' inch monitor a few months back.

My performance using V2.5, with reasonable settings, was not bad at all. I'd say i was running at about 75% of max.  I am very happy with my setup.  With some performance improvements being noted for V3 and your 980GTX card, i'd say you'll be fine.

As always, if you can afford bigger and better, go for it, but it becomes an expensive investment bracket beyond 1 x 980GTX and I'm not sure if the returns are worth the extra spend unless you have cash sloshing about.

Hi Erich, can you run your Philips 4k 40" at 30 Hz with vsync on? I have an asus Rog swift and i cannot do this setting... I'd like to have the smoothness like Rob with no tearing using it at 30Hz vsync on staying stable at 30fps... So i think it's my monitor fault because it do not stay at 30Hz and i got very bad tearing... so i am looking for a big tv that do the job...

Thanks

Hi Gianluca

The default setting on the Phillips 4K is 30Hz, .  I had to reset it to 60HZ when I purchased it a few months back.    I have not experimented with settings yet as I've only just installed my P3D V3 after a clean install of W7.  I also want to experiment with this setting to see if it makes any difference for me, which I'll probably do this weekend.

Hi!

I have a 32 Inch Asus 4k IPS Panel (really proud, cost me the same as the rest of my hardware, but I can recommend it! https://www.asus.com/Commercial-Monitors/PA328Q/) with a 970 GTX (Asus Strix 4GB) and a Core i7 6700k @ 4,5GHz.

Monitor is running at 60 Hz, settings about 85% max, PMDG 777, a lot of Traffic with My Traffic 6 and ASN weather. On the second monitor (Samsung 24'' Full HD) I have the flight plans, ASN and stuff.

I get around 20 FPS in real busy airports. In the air I get around 35-60 fps, depending on location and weather.

For me this is ok ;)

Edit: For me, the drop in FPS from Full HD to 4k was around 25-40% depending on scenery, weather and so on.

G-Sync doesn't support refresh rates lower than 30Hz. It's a technology really designed for gamers who get huge frame rates in their games- games which are optimised for graphics cards!!!

I think they were talking about VSync, not G-Sync, right? 2 different stories

Exactly, thanks EDDM we were talking about vsync... :)

On my Asus 27" RogSwift i realize that the best setting is locked frame rate at 41 fps, vsync off 2K res running @ 144 Hz and G-Sync off. In this way the tearing is really really low and the experience is smooth.

But... As Rob in this forum says, for the best smooth experience, i tryed running P3D on an old Full Hd Tv  running at 30Hz and it is such more smooth then on the asus...it's like butter.. But thats TV is anyway a bit so old, so the quality of the image is not so good...

Then i am looking now to sell my rog swift and buy a new last generation 4k Tv that it's capable to run native resolution at 30Hz... I found the SONY 49" KD-49X8005C that should be good.. Someone have this TV?

Sorry, my mistake guys- when I saw RogSwift my mind must have immediately assumed G-Sync.

That Sony sounds amazing, I've heard that 4K can only really be fully appreciated at above at least 40". No way I could fit a 49" tv on my simming table!

Wow, I just looked at that Sony on Amazon, it looks amazing, and incredibly slim. Not cheap though, well out of my league!

I have a 32'' Asus 4k monitor and it is STUNNING!

But I really should try P3d on my TV (Samsung 65'' 4K curved). But I guess my gf will kill me as soon as I set up my PC next to the TV  :Shame On You:

Edit: I should set up a Full Flight Sim in our living room - she will LOVE it I guess  =@  =@  =@

Hi,

Although I'm running Titan X's. I have three 75" Samsung 4K's running at a resolution of 12288x2160 and have been able to maintain 30fps at FSDreamTeam, FlightBeam Studios and Flytampa type airports. However, I use P3D3.

Two 980Ti's running one 4K at one third the resolution I'm running should be no problem at all for P3D3. I tried P3D2 just for the hell of it, same settings and I had issues. No doubt about it, L/M did a great job under the hood of P3D3.

I do not work for and/or are affiliated with L/M in any way, I will say this... I would NEVER EVER go back to anything below P3D3, and she is still teething... Just wait until a revision or two.

Funnily enough I was going to mention your setup Mike, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It's just ridiculous, I've watched your video a couple of more times and I've realised that actually being in a jetliner or whatever is the closest I'm going to get to that type of not just immersion...it practically looks real!.

Can't wait til I get my hands on it when you inevitably get bored with it. Honestly, I don't mind, I'll find the space somewhere...really  :Tounge:

That's easily the most insane setup I EVER heard about! I really would love to see this in real life :D

Man.... sounds awesome!!!!! Could you link this video of your "Flight Sim from hell" for me, too? Thanks
