Track IR not working P3Dv3

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just installed P3dv3 and track it is not working. It is working fine in v2. I installed the redist sim connect files (rtm, sp1, sp2-xpack) in the v3 directory. Also installed v3 sdk kit. This is a clean install of v3 (I don't have ezca or anything like that). Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Brett

Tried uninstalling and then re-installing with a fresh download of P3dv3 along with the simconnect files.  Still no luck

Very odd. Did you try reinstalling the TrackIR software already?

I know...it is odd.  I have done that several times....lol

Just an FYI - after seeing your post I realized I haven't used my TrackIR in a long time.  I just installed P3Dv3 so I tried 'er out.  Works great.  Smooth as butter.  Probably the smoothest I have have ever encountered with it running across 3 displays... low 30's!  In fact, I even have that old little app callled 'jab_fsx' working as well which automatically turns off TrackIR when you are in an outside view.

I did not have to reinstall anything.  Not P3D, not the TrackIR software, no install of a simconnect or  a dll.  No nuttin', ha!   I do have my v2.5 still installed but I would not think that would have any effect one way or the other.

I know that's not any help to you but sometimes I find it's good to know that it does work on someone's elses system before diving in trying to get it to work on mine.

good luck...

Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

Does your Track IR work in other games?  It's odd because there is actually next to no configuration to do for TrackIR for it to work in the sim.

Yes, works fine in Xplane, DCS, etc.

I beginning to think it might be a windows 10 thing, in that everything installed prior to upgrading to windows 10 still works trackIR.  The one thing I have installed after doesn't.  Would be good to know if anyone has got trackIR and P3Dv3 working with Win10.

I owuld consider rolling back to windows 7 and then checking but am not sure if I would be allowed to upgrade to win 10 again

I got TrackIR working with P3D v3 in Windows 10 but it's a clean install of Windows 10. When I upgraded to Windows 10, coming from 8.1, TrackIR worked fine in v2.5 but I think I already uninstalled everything before upgrading: so I didn't use any programs that were already installed before the upgrade. After that I installed W10 clean twice in the meantime. Anyway, in the end TrackIR and v3 should work perfectly in Windows 10.

I don't believe this is the case, but is there any "switch" I have to flip within P3d to use TIR?

No, there isn't indeed. P3D doesn't 'know' at all if you use TrackIR or not.

Using TIR in upgraded win 10 (not clean install). Had 2.5 in win 7, after upgrade still using 2.5 and TIR. Now have Vers. 3 installed and TIR works fine in it also.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

Same as Jim Carrel, but I upgraded from Win 8.1. Track IR works flawlessly for me with P3d V3 and Win 10.

Did you try running TIR as admin? I had to on my upgrade install. Also try opening the TIR window when you have P3D on see if anything is detected? Updated game support as well?

I am running both P3Dv3 and TIR as admin and did the updated game support and P3d shows in the lists of games.  Will try opening TIR while P3Dv3 is running

Just tested it.  Looking at the TIR display while in P3dV3 shows the green light (active) and yellow (tracking) light lit up with the blue light (game enabled indicator) out basically saying TIR doesn't feel that P3Dv3 is game enabled.  P3Dv2 on the other hand has all lit up and working perfectly
