  • I would add my usual warning here, @JYW.  Learn X-Plane and it's differences from FSX/P3D well and thoroughly before you begin loading up with dozens of add-ons, and the massive databases of user-auth

  • Hello David,   A Search will take me weeks, not to mention reading reviews and asking for advices again for each product .   Let me simplify my request. What add-ons are you using .   Thanks ag

  • I would start with HD  + UHD Mesh from alpilotx.   World2Xplane , either from simheaven or you can generate it on your own.   FlywithLua + RTH for atmospheric + lighting effects.   A lot of free

The 737x by Benedikt Stratmann and Pierre Stone (www.eadt.eu) is an excellent freeware choice!

Hi all,

Firstly, I know this question will have been asked many times, and I apologize for that, but when you're absolutely new to a sim, the information can be very spread out and dissipated....so here goes;

I'm buying XP10 today from Steam, and as an absolute virgin to XP  (well, I did have XP6!), could any kind person (or several) offer their views on what essentials I should look at, to bring the vanilla XP10 up to speed?

I'm mainly looking for scenery (wide area, airports, etc) and enhancements rather than aircraft, but some good GA aircraft recommendations would be great too.

I'm looking for both freeware and payware recommendations.

I fly GA exclusively.

Thanks in advance!

I know you are a Flysimware MU-2 fan, there is a fantastic payware MU for XP, however it's been around for a while now.

Hi folks - brilliant thread - don't worry about the above posting.  I posted it as a seperate thread but it was (sensibly) merged with this one.      This thread has tons for my to start investigating!

Cheers.

I would add my usual warning here, @JYW.  Learn X-Plane and it's differences from FSX/P3D well and thoroughly before you begin loading up with dozens of add-ons, and the massive databases of user-authored Custom Scenery available online.  You can get into some problems if you pick up a "bad" scenery with a lot of errors, or have plug-ins fighting each other.

If I were starting from scratch, I'd begin with one good commercial aircraft - maybe a Carenado 210 or 208B.  Fly with default scenery before you begin adding more.  Learn how the Rendering settings work with your rig and if you are able to handle it, get the HD and UHD mesh - freeware.  Fly out of some of the default Aerosoft airports to see how your system handles more complex scenery before pushing sliders for more eye candy.

And realize (as you probably already have) that there is a world of help in information available on forums like this one.  Go slow and stay under control.

i7-4790K o/c @ 4.8 GHz, Corsair H-110 liquid cooler, 32 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, MSI Maximus VII Hero mobo

Samsung Pro 512 GB SSD

Corsair GFX Hydro GTX-1080 8 GB, (2) 4TB hybrid HDs

Win 10 (1607), X-Plane 10.51r2 and X-Plane 11.01b1

I would add my usual warning here, @JYW.  Learn X-Plane and it's differences from FSX/P3D well and thoroughly before you begin loading up with dozens of add-ons, <SNIPPED.

That's great advice. I will definitely do that.  Thanks.
