The kernelbase.dll (faulting module) is a system file.  Most likely a problem with the display drivers.  See the AVSIM CTD Guide and look for kernelbase.dll in the last section concerning probable/known causes of crashes.  Link to guide is in my signature.

Regarding the Akamai error - one individual fixed this problem by running a repair of P3Dv3, downloading and running the latest Addon Manager for FSDT airports, and/or downloading and installing the latest Orbx Library.  None of these procedures will affect your current installation of P3Dv3 except a repair of P3D will result in your P3D.cfg being returned to the default.  Your scenery.cfg and simobjects.cfg may be overwritten too so I would move/copy the files or the complete folders to a temporary directory.  Many errors are caused by a bad tweak or parameter in the P3D.cfg and simply moving the P3D.cfg to a temporary folder, restarting P3D and letting the config rebuild, fixes a lot of issues.  I would do this before running a repair as many think rebuilding the p3D.cfg is the same as reinstalling or repairing P3D.  FYI, I do not have the Akamai\admintool.exe folder in my AppData\Local directory.  According to the Internet, "the Akamai NetSession Interface is a secure application that may be installed on your computer to improve the speed, reliability, and efficiency for downloads and streams from the Internet. It is used by many software and media publishers to deliver files or streams to you."  If you have FSX-SE installed, this program might be causing this problem.  I do not have FSX-SE installed and likely the reason I do not have this directory.

Thanks. I dont have FSX SE. only v2 and v3. I have no ideer which software uses the akaimai tool but vpilot did fail upon me. I have only AM in the Prepar3d.cfg.Could it be a program outside Prepar3D like VA interface for the fmc?

The Ctds happened after i touched the PFD for going back to a undocked panel. If i leave the sim for a hours or 2 i usually puts the PF, ND back in VC and when i get closed to top of descent i click on the PD and ND so they goes back to my undocked position on a second monitor.

Thanks Michael Moe with latest officiel nvidia drivers.

The similar pre-requisite for CTD was reported my those poor folks who've suffering from infamous MSVCR120 error. I don't have 777 yet as I'm slowly loading P3Dv3.0 on clean SSD with the stuff. I'm planning to add 777 this weekend  and then I'll go hardcore - KLAX/EGLL with FSDT/UK200+UTX and 777. Will report next week.

Seems like something really wrong on either 777 or LM side as NGX does not have these problems at all. Since October 16th I have completed seven flights across continental US, each 2-3 hours, using UTX USA, ASN, REX, FSDT/FB sceneries and I have had ZERO crashes even with seven-layers' overcast. Thus, I presume that I have both stable sim and stable OS.

Hi Michael,

Enjoyed your video in the AVSIM Video Forum.  Watched it last night in fact.  You stated you could try disabling the FSUIPC but cannot because all of your controls are calibrated there.  Can you go into your dll.xml and disable FSUIPC?  From the AVSIM CTD Guide:

  • Disable modules in dll.xml and exe.dll– Sometimes a module you have installed is corrupted or is somehow duplicated in the dll.xml.  You can check to see if any modules are the cause of your crashes by disabling all modules (except the first one). Change the parameter ‘False’ in the line <Disabled>False</Disabled> to True or simply move the dll.xml and exe.xml to a temporary folder and restart your program.  If the problem is fixed, move the file back to the proper folder and enable each module one by one until the culprit is found.

At least you will find out quickly if one of the entries loading in your dll.xml is causing your problems.  If it doesn't fix the problem then just move the dll.xml back or reenable the entries.

Okay updated the FSUIPC to latest module and whent away from OMDB to EGLL.

4,5 hours in to flight i start using the left FMC a bit and got a CTD . Glad i saved just before.

here is the logs : (oh and one other thing, Do you sometimes get this FPS boost restarting a saved flight ? .It sometimes feels like a hole core is just being released . Might be placebo but i could have sword i had 50 fps in cruize over Romania and now after a restart Vsync just sits at 60fps)

How much free VAS did you have before CTD?

9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung,  AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

Hi Jim. Not sure i understand your point here. I know how to disabling addons but i have major controls issues especially the rudder and throttle if not calibrated in FSUIPC. So how can i test it if i am not able to leave the airport

You want to disable it temporarily to find out if this is what is causing your crashes.  You still should be able to use your controllers albeit not as well as via the FSUIPC.  If the crashes continue, then that is not the problem and you can reenable the entry in the dll.xml.  You are investigating to see what on your computer is causing your crashes.

Okay updated the FSUIPC to latest module and whent away from OMDB to EGLL.

It has been noted by others in the P3D Forum that pausing your flight and then restarting the flight will boost fps and give you more VAS.  I have seen this phenomenon too.

The faulting module was the api.dll and, as stated in the AVSIM CTD Guide, this error is caused when you begin to run out of memory (not RAM but Virtual Address Space or VAS).  As suggested by G-YMML1 above, you need to check the amount of free VAS available.  Usually on 4 to 5 hour flights you will have little or no VAS available to continue your flight and P3D will crash.  This happens if you have high settings plus a lot of addons running in the background like the PMDG 777, ASN, commercial airport scenery, etc., etc.  There is no solution to this type of problem other than to reduce your settings and eliminate an addon or two.  The FSUIPC instructions on how to monitor your VAS usage during a flight is on page 3 of the AVSIM CTD Guide.  One of the neat things about the FSUIPC utility is the log.  If you check the appropriate box in the FSUIPC to log VAS usage, you can open up the FSUIPC.log after each flight and check to see how much VAS was used and remaining at the end of the flight (or when it crashed).  You might consider using the utility Quantum Leap as suggested in the CTD Guide on page 3.  That allows you to jump to another waypoint immediately and thus saving VAS on long flights.

Actually, I don't believe its VAS over-usage in Michael's case as P3Dv3.0 is VERY efficient about handling VAS, but it's still worth to double-check.

The VAS was at 2.85gb on take off and 3.05GB on CTD.

Left FMC triggered it

Have the same problem with the 777 and the NGX. When I enlarge the ND or the PFD after a flight time about 4h30m, CTD. PMDG pls do anything!!!! Its ridiculous. We pay a lot for this airplanes, so we can expect to get an airplane without any crashes. Thx!

Don't use the left outboard DU, the Capt PFD, instead you can use the right outboard DU, first officer's PFD, for the same function and it will not cause a CTD.

Problem is between LM and PMDG, neither has the ability to isolate the problem on their own and they have yet found a way to collaborate but at least the workaround is very easy.
