November 23, 201510 yr yeah great news now I just need to finish work in 6 hours before applying the patch! From EGFF to YSSY
November 23, 201510 yr Just to throw down some test data... Ran one of those "sitting on the runway" tests. I know the limitations of those and the fact that moving/flying is of course more practical and realistic but also a little harder to keep consistent and properly replicate. Anyway... Sitting on 7L at FSDreamteam KLAX for 2 minutes after scenario load, clear weather, exactly noon, engines running and ready for takeoff, small amounts of default AI, FTX Global, Vector and FS Global 2010 mesh: PMDG 777 24.6 Average FPS, ~2% FPS variability, 2.96GB VAS iFly 747 SP1 19.9 Average FPS, ~5% FPS variability, 2.95GB VAS iFly 747 SP1a 23.7 Average FPS, ~2.5% FPS variability, 2.95GB VAS Still not as efficient as the PMDG but close. And far more flyable. Some of other tests I had run showed the SP1 to show some pretty wild FPS variability (as I said in an earlier post, mid-teens) but this one was pretty low for both service pack versions... Hope this helps anyone on the fence. Garrett Frank
November 24, 201510 yr On other hand, the displays update rate became ridiculous. They're at 15-ish fps and jumpy. Still doesn't convince me. November 24, 201510 yr While I'm happy now with FPS, I'm still struggling a bit with VAS. For my testing I place myself at a gate at EGLL (Aerosoft), load the aircraft and spend some time looking around in every direction, some in the VC, some external, wait a few minutes, repeat etc. Doing this, whatever I do I can't get the PMDG 777 above 3.25Gb VAS. The iFly unfortunately consistently goes up beyond 3.8Gb. No OOM, but very close! Was really hoping that this would have been improved a little too. Luke Spencer
November 24, 201510 yr Author Patch applied and a really great improvement to performance and stability of frame rates. I was able to increase P3Dv3 settings to those I use for the NGX now, and the 744 is now smooth with them. Happy flying! November 26, 201510 yr On other hand, the displays update rate became ridiculous. They're at 15-ish fps and jumpy. Still doesn't convince me. Then you have a problem with your system or set up. Cheers Steve Hall
