Matt Davis striked by IVAO

I think he's back up already.

He is, and (tellingly) the video telling you how to use MTL with vPilot is still there.

So a grand total of nothing achieved (iirc Matt had already retired MTL in his videos in favour of UT2), and a whole lot of bad PR.  Bravo. :clapping:

This would be like claiming a copyright violation on you if you read a book in the WC/loo/bathroom... and the owner of the copyright only wanted it read in the dining room. Totally silly.

Yes it is, the sad thing is that these strikes are pretty much the nuclear option in terms of possiblities.

Because all monetization is turned off (which isnt that big of a deal) but he cant upload any videos longer than 5 or 10 minutes and if unchallenged is pretty much the end of the channel. Its basically the tool you use to harass people and make them suffer

FWIW 6 months ago, vPilot dropped IVAO model matching rules due to the fact, that vPilot code was used outside VATSIM network:

"Lastly, I encourage every vPilot user to delete the IVAO model matching rules from your vPilot configuration and respect the wishes (and user agreement) of the IVAO model set developers. "

Like I stated... their claim of infringement is like trying to control where someone reads a book. Can't be done.

i know, however the way the systems works, matt is guilty until proven otherwise including all problems. And if they decide to press charge, wether or not rightfully, still is a big pinata of excrements.

You did understand, who I quoted?

I was quoting VATSIM's vPilot developer.

So both IVAO and VATSIM developer think that you shouldn't use the IVAO files on VATSIM.

noone is doubting that .  the video in question however was 3 years old, released before vpilot existed.  On top of that the video in question was not monetized.  Hell i doubt 95% of the people even knew it existed. Second of all, the video that is still up with v-pilot and model matching, still has the options in the client.  If you read through the chat you will see that people ask him about it with later versions where this option was not possible anymore and his answer was "sadly i cant help you there ".

LOL. What's the charge?

Well copyright usage. The thing is that just pressing charges just costs money effort and time.  Hell even if you win you spent a few months time and effort and money.
